Yet Yelich is considered by some to be the best player in the NL. Just saying players can mature after a few years. Yelich was not highly regarded in 2014 and started maturing as a hitter in 2016. It can happen. He could be a good compliment to Soto’s power if he can get on base. I’d love him to take 40-45 doubles, steal 40-50 bases and score 115 runs in the future. It can happen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

One of the greatest plays I’ve ever seen
Rivaled Laureano’s play

It was a great one for sure.
As a Nats fan though, I'd much rather have Michael A Taylor in center. Robles hasn't lived up to the hype with his bat and seems stuck in the 9-hole. While Taylor is about the same at the plate, Taylor is a much more confident center fielder. Robles always worries me every time a ball is hit to him. He often starts going the wrong way and seems lost and has to have many last minute adjustments to make the play. I don't see that with Taylor. Personally, I think Taylor, if played every day, would eventually be the better overall player. I know my opinion may be in the minority, but oh well. I have several Robles cards and think it's great that he's playing next to his good friend, Soto. When Eaton is gone in a year or so, I'd move Robles to right and put Taylor in center. |

Would he be performing better if he was higher in the lineup?

Maybe. But he doesn't get on enough to supplant Turner/Eaton at the top and doesnt slug enough to hit in the middle. He's right where a developing 23 year old with his stats should be.

That is an awesome Robles. Great pick up. I still have faith in Robles.

As fans we have just gotten spoiled the last few years with highly touted minors players tearing it up when the get called up. He is only 23 and still the best CF in baseball. His defense will allow him to stay in the lineup long enough mature as a hitter.

If he becomes another Kevin Kiermaier no one will care.

Nobody cares about Kevin Kiermaier because he was never a highly touted prospect and plays for the rays.
*** Let me edit because I really meant to say, no collectors care about Kiermaier for those reasons. He is a great player when he is healthy. Last edited by gemmintbb; 08-29-2020 at 09:26 PM. |

Brandon Lowe plays for the Rays and wasn’t a highly touted prospect but people are buying him up left and right. Why? Because he hits.

Robles albeit a smaller sample size already has a better career average and OPS and you would expect that to improve.

With you! He’s still young, and the talent is all there. Also a good piece at The Athletic for sure!

I'm for sure expecting him to pull it together. Haven't bought anything for him yet, but I suppose I should sooner rather than later in case I'm right.

He’s still only 23 (a couple months from 24). When you look at what he did in ‘19, that was pretty impressive for a rookie of his age. And when you consider how many players struggled in the 60-game Covid season, there’s little reason to think Robles won’t continue to emerge.
I guess the question is, what’s your expectation? Could he have an Andrew McCutchen-type career? That might be a bit lofty. Maybe an early-blooming Tommy Pham or AJ Pollock? |

As a Nats fan, I've lost almost all hope for Robles. Good in the field, but not living up to hype at the plate, not even close. It's like a redo of Michael A Taylor. He's had more than enough time to show improvement. He did shed some weight which will hopefully make up for his sub par fielding performance last year. Again, just like Michael A Taylor, when I see Robles step in the box, I think easy out.
