Lol it will hold it's value with no baseball collectors wanting it? Why is some Ben Baller fan who doesn't watch baseball going to want to pay $200 for a Bo Bichette refractor 2 months from now? This stuff has zero staying power beyond the very short term.

Not sure if anyone said this already - but for those raffle winners who were late and didn’t get to purchase their box, be on the lookout for a second chance email to buy your box.

Those who didn’t win, you too should be on the lookout for an email saying you are now a winner.

Part of the hobby is one way, and part of it is the other way. You wouldn't make it through a single product cycle if there wasn't demand at some point in the chain. Flippers can't only flip to themselves. There wouldn't be any money to be made. There is money to be made due to the balance that currently exists. The market is going bonkers because a lot of the collectors that collected in their youth (like me), are now in the middle parts of their lives and have much more discretionary money. It isn't a poor mans game anymore, because most people have more money. The flippers have it, and the "collectors" have it. Fortunately, we don't (yet) live in a communist country. So there will be people priced out. So be it. One person may not see it as fair. But I wouldn't see it as fair if I had sell something cheap just because someone has less money than someone else who wants to buy it. Life isn't fair. I'm not going to complain that I cannot afford a mansion in Beverly Hills. I will buy the house that I can afford in the neighborhood that I can afford and I will have to be ok with that.

Blocked, thank you for sharing.

With that being said, I don't know why anyone in their right minds would be preselling right now. That is just asking for it. The market hasn't dictated a price yet.

Yeah, never said anything to the contrary. Just that the industry is going more towards flipping than collecting these days. Shouldn't be a shock to anyone.

Default Any Raffle Winners Notified?

Does anyone have a sense of when Topps will send notifications to raffle winners? Anyone gotten one yet? Thanks

Can someone briefly explain the Altuve hate? I understand the Astros cheated and he was part of the team, but I thought it was shown he didn’t cheat? Guilt by association? Or did I miss something?

The past 15 or so pages of this thread are people sharing whether they received an email, purchased a box, or complaining because the initial allotment sold out.

Based on a post above this one, it sounds like a second chance notice may be going out to people today. If true, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for that.

The whole buzzer / walk-off / tats subplot.

He either didn't cheat at all or was the worst cheater of them all (wearing a buzzer so he didn't need the trash cans). There was some weird situations that point to it very likely being the latter but that is a discussion for another thread.

Some people on here define the "hobby" too narrowly. Like it or not, the hobby includes flippers, speculators, etc. They're all part of the hobby. To suggest that cards should be allocated to collectors vs, say, investors doesn't make any sense. No one has more of a claim over these than anyone else.

Also, to the folks asking to see proof that people aren't leaving the hobby -- see prices. Given the increase in prices, we know that demand is stronger. This is even more notable since we can assume that supply is increasing. Even if there aren't more people in the hobby, there are certainly more dollars. And that's all that really matters.

Judging by his numbers this year...definitely points to cheated.

After Altuve’s game winning home run in the playoffs he was telling his teammates to not rip off his shirt and it looked like there was some sort of patch just below his shoulder that looked like a buzz patch that would vibrate if a fastball was coming. So everyone thinks he was 100% cheating.

Lol says the guy who doesn’t even have the box in hand yet. If you can sell something you don’t have yet, I think the ebayer has a right to cancel buying something that you don’t have in hand yet.

The only thing I'm getting from this tweet is that the 10 or so available autos are, in fact, not only the bigger rookies. I'm definitely going to be holding my box until I start seeing what some of the potential hits are. I wonder what other non-rookie "stars" are in the set...

Would agree. That is not one of the 10 auto subjects I wanted to see. Need a checklist.
