Super small hobby break

Retail shelves have looked like the apocalypse around here. LCS sold out of Topps Chrome before it hit the shelves and unless I want Triple Play from 5 yrs ago, I'm S.O.L.

Decided to take a trip to the card store in the Mall. What is the mall you might ask? Well that's a sad story for another day.
Anyway, I was quite shocked to see Topps Chrome sitting on the shelf. Actually his card shelf was well stocked. Stadium Club, Topps Chrome, Archives ...cue the candy man song from Willy Wonka.
Then once I gathered myself overcome with excitement, i took notice of the prices set upon each box.
My main focus was Topps Chrome. For a standard hobby box the price was $310. Individual packs were $13.50 ea
I thought about passing, knowing my chances are very slim at only 4 cards per pack but I got that little voice just saying buy it...buy it. You have a chance of pulling something awesome.
So I bought 2 packs of Chrome and 1 of Stadium Club ($9 a pack)

So the results of my $38.88 3-pack extravaganza

Chrome:
Acuna refractor
Hoskins prizm refractor
Vlad Jr. Future Stars

Stadium Club
Zac Gallen on card auto

All in all, an auto in 3 packs isn't too bad. Maybe I can make some money back on the Gallen auto. At least the itch I had was slightly rubbed.

Acuna refractor and an auto from three packs is solid!

I had no idea individual packs were so expensive now. $13.50 for four cards is wild, and $9 for Stadium Club (which is my favorite set) might be wilder still. I've gotten so conditioned from here to look at everything by the box/case price that I never thought about the fact that those sky-high box prices would trickle down to packs too.

Hey, those boxes/packs are cheaper than my LCS. And those are nice hits.

It's just that "hell yeah" factor of finding them period. The chrome box was pretty fresh. There is that part of me that is like money is no object...gimme gimme but that damn adult side took over.
