Wrong, I was using this as a point for the people who were complaining about Wally wold raises. It was one of the only jobs I could find for example that paid close to the same but actually involved working in the sun. Good enough for seasonal workers and illegals from Mexico but not for Americans.

Farm workers are unionized and paid fairly apparently as they aren’t out in mass on strike.

Someone said “ oh yea give farmers more money, no way !”

(If you are going to subsidize anything I’d like it to be where my food comes from and not some slush fund lifetime unnecessary politician or program see shovel ready jobs Obama era. We now have bus stops with no buses lmao)

The point was, if you are not replaceable, unionize.

Although I guess we could have seasonal Wally World workers as well if that becomes too far below the standards of the currently unemployed.

Sheeeeeeeiiiiiit.... Give more to farmers and less to Chinese product selling corps.

Get rid of lifetime tax dollar leaching politicians and set taxes accordingly “Per” large Corp ( taxes might vary depending on what you are selling and where it’s coming from).

Give the middle class owned small business zero taxes or super low so they can thrive and people will be working at mom and pop shops again and not Wally World. Hell maybe they might be a business owner just selling one or 2 of the goods Wally World sells.

% of American made products sold through your business would determine your tax rate or something to that effect to help stimulate production in the states. Hell, you can even use some seasonal workers to help manufacture if the people who lost their job at wall mart won’t have it.

All I know is anything that proliferates the very existence of another communist country, I ain’t for it.

I've only glanced over what you've been saying but you realize in a "perfect competitional market" which farm goods are, there really isn't much room for profits? The fact that farmer joes corn really isn't different than farmer bob makes it hard to have great margins. When you keep increasing labor costs, you make it even more difficult to compete. I'm sorry but people under you plan will just find some other country to buy corn from because nobody is going to pay $10 for a cob of corn.

UNIONIZED FARMERS are an example of a similar paying job.

That was the argument, if you don’t like your Wal mart wage unionize and demand more money.

Subsidizing farmers was brought up by another member.

I only argued that if you are going to subsidize something, let it be my food producers.

You wouldn’t pay more for food unless they were not subsidized. You can’t expect to tell a farmer (food basic necessity) to just simply pay more to the workers. That’s obvious.

Wally World I’m sorry, you aren’t a basic necessity to me and the way I chose to live. I try not to buy Chinese goods. I’ll pay $45 dollars for something made of quality over paying $5 10 different times for garbage.

Make sense.

Get rid of the government overhead, disperse fundage accordingly.

Again, farm WORKERS are not picketing for higher wages, yet.

And neither are Wal mart employees because they know it is a replaceable job.

Americans won’t work in the fields because they feel its beneath them. Not calling those people racist or that they look down on those workers but if it pays more now, why not go work hard for more money ?

Nailed it.

Too many anecdotes I could share of people who came here without even being fluent in English, and they now own houses, own businesses, drive nice cars. Just one example: my mother-in-law brought her two daughters here from Russia by herself. She started by cleaning houses. She now works for J&J, drives a Lexus, owns a house in Cabo, and owns two houses in PA worth over $1M combined.

I think about what I’ve sacrificed to even achieve middle class status. I think about others who didn’t make the same sacrifices or put in the same effort. If they started from a similar spot as me, then why do they deserve what I have with none of the same struggle? I made $7/hr once upon a time. So then I got another job. And at various times had three jobs. I worked over 40 hrs a week the entire time I was in college.

Love your life or change it. Or keep crying and hope that someone else makes your life better for you. IDGAF.

Finally...we agree on something!!!

There's still plenty we see differently, but we've gotta start somewhere. Personal responsibility is a good place to do that.

One foot in front of the other gets you where you're going. I had zero help. Nobody helped me with tuition, rent, food, or anything else. All I had was opportunity, the same as every able-bodied American. Heck, I'm not even all that smart.

I feel for struggling people. Most of the time I want to help. But I don't buy excuses from able-bodied Americans. I just don't.

Pretty sure the subsidies are where they are at because of export tariffs. Farmers can’t sell their crop out of country that’s a loss. Need to keep the corn from reaching $10 a Cobb right ?

Sounds like if farm workers aren’t on strike, they must be happy.

Don’t need anymore subsidies, apparently we don’t need to sell our crops as bad as we may think.

Thank god for cheap laborers from other countries who don’t complain ?!?

Meanwhile you have jo jo who isn’t happy in the AC working stocking foreign products making a communist country money built off of slave labor.

They should go get some sun in that field, use that body work hard. Sell something made in America.

He sucks again, and it did not last, but you can see what this can do; temporarily. He was +4 overall pre-covid to + 40! post-covid.

We’re both right (but I’m righter ).
He got his big bump four days before he went into hospital. And a smaller one afterwards.

Because that's not how things work.

Explain in detail how trillion dollar agricultural conglomerates with an infinite war chest of lobbyists and money would let a policy like that become law?

Your simplistic belief that giving even more subsidies to the highest subsidized industry for wage Increases would somehow benefit workers is obtuse and not grounded in reality.

Man, how did they ever go from making $5 to $12 then ?

How about get rid of lobbyist and crooked lifelong politicians ?

How about getting rid of Wal marts ?

You for any of that ?

Read all my posts and you will see that this was only an example of a job that was close to paying what Wal mart workers receive.

Next time I’ll just post job wants for farm workers.

The subsides are only where they are at because China raised tariffs on our food. They did that in retaliation to our tariffs.

How did the gazillion dollar conglomerates ever let it happen ohhh noooo !

It depends on your company. When I worked for the BNSF I made 8 hours of pay if we worked over two hours (more if we worked longer). My dad, uncle and grandfather were all BN conductors. My dad made good money. All of that because of it being a union. Walmart, Target, Amazon, and other non-union companies have no reason to give good money to the lowest jobs.

This is why it boggles me that lots of union employees are Republicans when real conservatives would want to ax unions and boost the companies.

-Extreme conservatives probably yes.

I finding possibly I’m more of a right leaning centrist.

I mean if that’s what paying a decent wage to essential hard working people (preferably legal citizens & seasonal workers) means and not to proliferate a countries government who uses basically slave labor.

Idk I’m crazy !
