When McEnany made the quote (and you can argue that it was set more as a jab to Obama rather than providing actual information), the global concern was already high. Very high.

On March 9th, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 said it was okay to go on cruise ships.

Exactly what are you trying to say here?

The press secretary was parroting the words of Trump (I hope we can all agree on that)
Fauci made statements, early on - that with NO context, now - sound stupid.
Since the administration needed a scape goat - they discredited Fauci based on the initial quotes with no context.

The administration discredited science and down-played the virus at every turn and sadly, it has bit them in the ass.
This outbreak in the White House exposes every single failure of this administration.

During a February 29 broadcast on NBC's "Today Show," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that at that time the government was still not advising people to change their daily habits to avoid the coronavirus pandemic

So Fauci was just as wrong correct?

Yes, I think we were all let down by the leaders of the country. It's just that when the science caught up with us, some people decided to change their attitudes and actions while others did not. That's where my hang up is. The fact that the White House is basically a petri dish of COVID should be getting tons of press for how irresponsible the occupants have been during the past six or so months.

No context?

He came out and explicitly said that movie theaters and gyms were okay to go to on February 29th. He said on March 9th that it's okay to go on cruise ships. How are either of those taken out of context?

COVID was already in the U.S. at that time. If science is such a champion, how did the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 make those statements?

But isn't the whole narrative that TRUMP KNEW AND DIDN'T TELL US? Even though we have quotes from the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 into March telling us that there is nothing to see here?

Nobody mentioned race here except you. Maybe you need to look in the mirror and decide who is actually the racist.

You got his quote right, but left out some other words he said:

Fauci said - Right now, at this moment - don't change, But it could change and to watch out.

I don't disagree.

Wrong about what? Wrong based on information at the time? Perhaps Dr. Fauci somewhere in the timeline said something to the effect of "we will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here," I just don't know off hand. That's the McEnany quote we're talking about right?

Now, for the record, what McEnany says is pretty meaningless to me. I didn't care what she said in February and I don't care for what she says today.

The dredged up quote is a silly inane verbal bow to wrap up a jab at Obama that hasn't aged well.

Oh, how scientific of him. Go ahead and go on that cruise (March 9th), but "watch out" in case things change.

How many degrees are required to be able to say that as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984?

It’s almost like our understanding of a virus that was only discovered a month previous was evolving! Imagine that.

Jesus. Fauci adjusted his stance quickly. Meanwhile Trump turner wearing masks into a political issue.

That's always the out for "science". Fauci has been all over the place on this thing, but that's okay because the information was "evolving". Nevermind that his job is Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

No, that's not the narrative. The narrative is that he never changed his attitudes towards the disease as it progressed and as the science around it evolved. The Bob Woodward story came and went because it wasn't a shock to anyone. Again, the petri dish that is now the White House shows how irresponsible he and those around him are. I saw a photo graphic of all the high level GOP party members that have COVID in the past week or so. Where's the graphic of Democrat leaders? Oh wait, there isn't one right now because that party seems to be taking it serious. Trump's comment about Biden wearing masks everywhere he goes again shows how irresponsible he is. Mocking anyone for wearing a mask in this day and age is stupid and childish.
