After reading Bill Stepian’s letter to the Debate Commission and these new rules on muting microphones, I am having a hard time envisioning they’ll debate this week.

Is that story really swaying people? Honestly, I think Trump needs the debate more than Biden. It's funny how Trump was saying that Biden wouldn't be able to even attend a debate. He even said he wanted more debates. Now he's ducked one and may duck another. Funny how he's all bluster but when push came to shove, he kind of fell back. I don't think anything the debate commission put in place last week was worth backing out. The muting of the mics also, not something worth backing out for.

Sorry to hear that Rush Limbaugh's terminal cancer is spreading.
Chemo isn't working.

He has been an influential voice of conservatism for many years.

Textbook bully. But maybe his cowering and kowtowing to Dear Leader will actually keep Americans safer.

It's funny to me that Dodger fans have to travel 1,400 miles to watch their team in the WS because of their scared governor.

Going for 200+ posts today. Have 18 to play tomorrow, then a busy evening so will need to get two days worth of posts into one.

The more you post, the more I post! Everyone wins.

So are you already crazy so you become a democrat or are you crazy because you're a democrat?

It's like a chicken and egg thing I guess.

Maybe going to a WS game is more fun than watching on TV?

Guess you don't have to worry about going to any WS games being in MN.

The truth is, I'm not really living some high risk lifestyle, though. I still wear a mask at work and at the store. I still use hand sanitizer after every public interaction. Does the hand sanitizer thing even make a difference? I dunno. But I go with it because it's easy enough. I wash my hands 3x as much as I did before Covid. I skipped a friend's wedding in August because of Covid. I haven't been around more than ten people indoors without a mask since March. I'll see people or have them over, but haven't been part of any large indoor group activities. What I don't do is wear a mask when I walk out the door or when I go for a run or when I'm walking the dog, and I don't wear a mask when people come over or when I go to someone else's house. Public indoors = mask. Outdoors / private indoors = no mask.

A lot of it comes down to calculated risk. Once the protest thing started getting hyped by the Democrats, it was clear (to me, at least) that there was always going to be a reset button on Covid before it went away. I don't know any of this herd immunity stuff or whether or not masks work or any of that. I really don't care. What I do know is that there will always be 10k+ people willing to gather for any reason they deem appropriate, and every single time it happens, Covid resets. Lakers fans just had a giant celebration outside of Staples Center after the Lakers won the NBA Finals... in the most democratic state in the country, when apparently the democrats are the "Covid is super serious" party. So I can either lock myself in my basement for five years, because now apparently even a vaccine won't cut it for a lot of folks, or I can go about my business and live my life with reasonable precautions. I still don't plan on traveling or taking any sort of public transportation for a while.

I also don't apply my beliefs to others. If you want to put on a hazmat suit before you leave your crib, cool. If you want to lick the toilet seat on the airplane, cool. You do you. I've set my cutoff point for what I feel is appropriate in regard to risk/freedom balance, as we all have. It wouldn't be right of me to expect others to agree with all of the specific rules I have for myself, and I don't think it's right of anyone else to do so either. The fact that Covid resets every time there's a mass gathering takes away a lot of the importance of following any sort of guidelines, in my opinion.

Good thing we have training grounds to keep our democracy safe.

A lot less scary than some raving lefty.

Ban all training for everything. Better to be safe than sorry I say.

Has there even been an election where both sides are so confident that they are going to win? I don't pretend to even have the slightest clue as to what will happen on 11/3. There will be A LOT of people with egg on their face after the election and it could reasonable be either side, will be fascinating to watch

Here is how I can see it playing out:

Trump wins: Odds are good he will lose the popular vote by more than he did in 2016. Democrats will call the election a sham and will start clamoring for the electoral college to be done away with. You'll have four more years of political chaos because the Democrats will still control the House and maybe the Senate.

Biden wins: Trump will graciously accept the results of the election once they are certified. His followers, the devout ones, will call the election a sham and say it was rigged, regardless of how good the evidence is. If the Democrats win the Senate and keep the House, you'll have two years of not much being done in terms of their party platform.

2022 should be interesting. You have 12 Democrats and 22 Republicans up for election. If the Democrats win the Senate in 2020, 2022 could provide a chance to win more seats and shore up the Senate. On the other hand, if Biden wins and enough people are unhappy with how he is running things, you could have a potential red wave, similar to what you had in 2018. Should be interesting, but not as interesting as 2020 is shaping up to be.

Either way, most people's lives will be the same regardless of who wins.

2016.

I fully expect Trump to win. It won’t be a landslide, probably somewhere along the results of last time with him losing the popular vote but getting more electoral. Other than 2020, it wasn’t a bad previous four years.
