That is when Ebay sends it to the bank. Fromm there is depends on your bank. Some are same day some take up to 5 days.

Once you receive it though you ship it even if pending, Ebay will guarantee it if you ship it and then for some reason it fails to go through. They also do not process any in on Fridays and Saturdays in general so if a payment was received on Thursday generally the earliest i will be sent to your account is Monday and then will be there in the next day or 2 depending on your bank.
A sort of piggy back question to this explanation:

I'm not new to selling on ebay, but did have my first 2 sales with managed payments. Both payments were pending with a payout date of 11/10, but now they are both still pending with a payout date of 11/11. Am I good to print labels and ship even though these payments are pending? Do I need to switch my "handling time" to account for the delay in receiving funds, or does it not really matter and I'm safe to ship as soon as the sale is made?

As soon as it shows paid you are expected to ship. Once it shows that even if the payment shows pending that just means Ebay is waiting for it to be paid to them by the CC company or whatever. If it does not clear at that point Ebay will cover you if you have shipped.

Good to know. It just felt a little weird shipping on a pending payment.

Thank you!

You technically do it with Paypal you just don't realize it. Every other selling site does this and expect paypal to go to something like that over the next year or so.

Currently Paypal spots you the money before they get paid so they can take it from you if you have not shipped even if you spent it. If you have shipped and they don't get paid then they cover it the same.

Wanted to give it some time to see how it goes. Been several weeks now and can say managed payments is the worst unless you think paying more in fees and taking longer to get your money is a positive

eBay has found another way to squeeze more money out if it’s sellers. What a joke. They’re now making money on the float as well.

I switched my payouts to a new Capital One checking account - currently have around $500 in limbo because they need to verify my bank details.

That would be after logging in direct through Capital One to add the account. It's asking for a bank document to verify the account - which I thought I did with a screenshot of the account information.

Anyone know what would work to satisfy the eBay goons so I can start receiving money again?

Fees are slightly less in mp. There is no float they release the funds the day after they get them. They just dont spot you like paypal does. Once they send to your bank ebay has nothing to do with when that posts. Mine show up the next day in most cases sometimes the same day. Friend of mine it takes 2 days for him.

Paypal is eventually going to adopt a holds system for all payment. Amaxon mercari and all 9thers have it in place

I get my Payments Weekly and I also have my shipping on 2 day handling to allow funds to go from pending to available. Depending on buyers FB and how much is in my available I may ship next day , but I have a life and a real job on top of managing over 5,000 items on ebay. Run your ebay the way you want to is what I say.

Yesterday I bought two spots in different group breaks from other people in the draft here on BO. I used PayPal gift. The $15 spot I got charged a .99 fee. The $50 spot I didn't get charged a fee. I used my bank account to pay for both. Anyone have an idea why PayPal would charge a fee. Its the first time that's happened using friends and family option. Thanks for any info.

if we don't update our account details with ebay, will they just hold the funds for you until you spend them?

No you cannot spend the funds from your pending payments except for those used for shipping. They will keep them til you do and likely bar your account from selling until it is updated.

Why would you pay with Paypal gift for anything? . It could be the members set up if one is an international account .

I got the "$15 coupon for signing up" email today, so I signed up... free money.

I don't sell much anymore, but I'm interested to see how this works based on some of the experiences here.

So I just made my first sale today after setting up managed payments, and the fees seemed excessive. I do like that they just take it out now instead of billing me later, but I sold a $15 card with $4 shipping, and they deducted $2.80 for the fee. Didn’t eBay fees used to be 10%? If they’re only taking into account the $15 sale (and not the shipping costs), then $2.80 out of $15 is over 18%! That’s insane. Has anyone else experienced this?

You are also getting charged a 30 cent transaction fee like paypal and like a 2.7% processing charge instead of the paypal 3% . So in total you are being charged 12.7% which is less than the paypal ebay combined and dont forget your total fee % includes the tax ebay collects from the buyer.

Not a managed payments question specifically but a question for those who've encountered this previously:
I sold a card on Best Offer($120) shipped and it was delivered in a few days.
On Nov 6th a hold was put on my payout because of a payment dispute filed by the buyer to his bank or cc co. stating:
"Did not recognize transaction"
The dispute center asked for proof of delivery, so I provided it immediately and now it says the response is being reviewed by their institution.
Any idea how long this goes in review and I'm assuming I'll eventually have access to these funds?
Thanks in advance for any experience in this.

Was this dispute on ebay or filed on paypal? I would call which ever one it went through and complain. Also I would post this buyers ID on the feedback scam section here. they may have a history of screwing with sellers.

Was filed through ebay.
Buyer id -
execut-83

For sure shady as I received an email after payment was made asking me to edit address to a different apt # than the address listed on ebay, which of course I did not do.

Ahh, I forgot about no PayPal fee with managed payments. So I guess $2.50 + 30 cents = $2.80. And $2.50 (not including the 30 cent fee) out of $19 (if I include the $4 shipping) is still over 13% of the total.

I recommend Capital One for those looking to receive funds quickly. I generally receive within one business day, and in some instances same day, from when eBay sends payout.

Its basically a fraudulent use chargeback as long as you prove delivery then Ebay/Paypal should cover you. Had it happen many times and never lost one.
