Well that is not surprising

Seriously though here is an example straight from my life and personal experiences.

My father is 70 and was a life long smoker. Had a double lung transplant 8 years ago. He is on a plethora of meds including immunosuppressants. My mother in law is a 2 time cancer survivor and is currently battling it again and going through chemotherapy. So basically both of them at highest risk of death from covid-19. Rather than quarantine our entire extended family we have taken steps to protect them. They are very careful and take all possible precautions. We help them in any way possible. The rest of the family carries on with our lives with work school social activities etc. We all wear masks and social distance as much as possible etc. We do not see them very often but are very careful when we do. They are ok and we are able to continue our lives and contribute to society and the economy.

Anecdotal I know but I still see some validity and believe in a sense this approach would be effective on a large scale. Once a vaccine is available high risk folks like our parents will be one of the first to get vaccinated after medical staff and first responders. Then the can get back to life as usual along with the rest of us. This can likely save their lives while not destroying all of ours.

Dega: You take antibiotics for those conditions and there is also a pneumonia vaccine for seniors.

That's fine. I don't have anything to hide behind a VPN.

I believe that the citizens of any nation should have the right to determine their own destiny.

I also believe that membership in global organizations (WTO, UN, etc) are not in the best interests of a sovereign nation.

You can take antibiotics for COVID. We just don't know what will work yet or not without tons of studies.

Sure, you can take antibiotics for a lot of conditions, that doesn't mean they are the right choice.

You are out of your realm on this one man. Leave it to the experts.

If only we had some sort of national head of government these past 9 months to provide the country with strategic guidance on how to best deal with the pandemic....

Instead.....

What experts? How can someone be an expert on something that never existed before?

Fastest vaccine was what, 4 years? And we should expect a vaccine?

whoa.. what's this rage all about?

what I told you was simple facts.

you treat bronchitis with antibiotics.
you treat pneumonia with antibiotics. People over the age of 65 should also get a pneumonia shot.

I have no idea where the re-search is headed in regards to covid. Antibiotics? Anti-virals? A combination of both? I gather that several hundred people are currently working on this that have a heck of a lot more degrees behind their names than you or I.

So like I trust my heat pump guy to correctly install a new heat pump in my house, I am going to look to the experts to come up with an effective treatment for covid.

No rage, just also speaking facts. You have people making decisions until we get a vaccine. Are we really going to be in this position 3 years from now? We are all HOPEFUL on a vaccine, but there are no guarantees.

In regards to experts, they have been way wrong. I can't blame them, this is new, but it's hard to trust experts when they were off. It's hard to trust experts when they say we may lockdown because the virus is more dangerous inside so we need to keep everyone... inside? Or where protesting is okay but going to church isn't. For example.

I don't dispute for even a second they haven't royally screwed this up and "moved goal posts" along the way. 100% no doubt.

edit: I am going to go out on a limb here and say ultimately, the covid vaccine will likely be much like the flu vacine. Probably not 100% effective in all patients, but may lessen the severity/symptoms of the illness.

just my 2 cents.

So, we trust in a President who listens to zero experts and spouts lies about almost every darn thing he talks about. Good choice, look where we are now.

Doesn't matter. I'm not listening now.

Why are you trusting a President? Bold strategy there. I'm sorry that you did that. Ill trust the data.

How are these lawsuits going?

Anything with some teeth come out yet?

At some point, these strict constitutionalists in here are going to have to realize that this isn't about fairness, validity, Making America Great Again or the Constitution...it's about disarray. It's about ego. It's about delay.

Say what you want about his policies, his words, his demeanor, his tweets, etc...this a real legacy builder.

About as well as the guy that planned to sue Topps over not winning a card for a player’s spring training homer in the Home Run Challenge.

This is a silly argument.

Infectious disease specialists are the world's leading authority on infectious diseases. Covid is an infectious disease.

And yes, we should expect a vaccine. That's what the experts are telling us.

Stop with the "there are no experts" silliness. Remember, it is better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to....well, you know the rest.
