Work has been hell. Between working and drinking, to get over working, there's not much time for anything else.

I'm five episodes away from finishing Bates Motel. This may be one of the best series I've watched in a long time from start to finish. The kid that plays Norman Bates has been nothing less than astounding when it comes to acting. Very well done and I can't wait to watch Psycho again after finishing up.

It also helps that Vera Farmiga is easy on the eyes as well, but her acting is not to be forgotten either. Just an overall great series from start to finish. I still can't believe Vera and Taissa Farmiga are sisters and not mother daughter.

Was thinking of maybe posting this in the Xmas movie thread but I'm pretty sure there weren't any specific mentions of the holiday in this one, just the winter theme. But my wife, who's a big Halloween fan, watches a few movies like Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare before Christmas closer to the end of November. Another one that we used to add to that list and I suggested reviving this year is Ravenous (1999). If you haven't seen it, see it. I can almost guarantee you won't be indifferent about it, whether you hate or love it.

Christmas Horror. Silent Night Deadly Night, Krampus, and Black Xmas are a few goodies.

Also, it's Friday the 13th people. Time for a few "Jason" movies tonight!

Watched Sleep Tight (Mientras Duermes) the other day. Psychological thriller in Spanish with English subtitles. It’s a slow burn with a phenomenal ending. I highly recommend.

Finally watched "The Descent" over the weekend. Good movie, but given all the hype I've ever heard about it ... I was a little underwhelmed. Made sure I watched the original UK ending too. Probably worth another viewing, but I'd give it about a 7/10.

Lol, yep, wife watched the original that night!

I was surprised by how much I liked Krampus - solid flick.

I think something gets lost in translation if you didn’t watch it on the big screen. I love the hell out of that movie, but it was very much meant to be seen in the theater.

I never saw it in the theater, but I'd love to. Descent has to be one of the top modern horror movies, IMO.

Krampus was great. Absolutely loved it and actually went into it thinking it was going to be cheese. Probably one of the better holiday horror movies there is.

This makes perfect sense. I was also forced to pause the movie a couple times for a couple minutes each during some of the more intense scenes, which really screws up the pacing.

Alright, next time the kids are out of the house, I'll try again on the big TV with surround sound.

Just keeping watching it on loop until your score goes from 7/10 to 10/10. That's the only acceptable answer.

Watched "Island Zero" last night on Prime. Kind of a slow burn creature flick. Not bad but you're always waiting for it to ramp up, but it never does.

Anyone watch "Underwater"? Would you classify it as "horror" or just sci-fi?

Anyway, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It will most likely be an FX or TNT rotational movie once it is done making the rounds on the premium channels.

Watching "Run" right now ... 48 minutes in ... 40 minutes to go; enjoying it very much.

This was a very satisfying movie. Best Hulu film I've seen in some time.

The Haunt gets a lot of so-so to negative reviews.....

..... but honestly it was one of the most genuinely “horrific” films I’ve watched this year. Eli Roth might be a torture-pron-hack in most of his films, but he nails beat after beat in this film.

Knowing basically every horror trope in the book, I caught myself saying “there’s no way they’re actually going to ....” multiple times.

I’ll go ahead and say it: A-freaking-plus in my book.

I put it up there with “Pathology” as one of the “I love this movie but I realize that most people will be turned off by it” flicks.

Spent the last two weekends watching Midsommar. Had no clue what it was and loved it. Looked up Ari Aster and saw he also had Hereditary so I caught that this weekend. Also loved it.

I don’t watch many movies because most are awful. I thought both of these were absolutely fantastic.

It’s not often where I see someone’s work and then begin to exclusively follow the Director because he never makes a dud. Ari is that dude now. Now that I’m “in the know” I fully expect to be let down by “Beau is afraid”.

The best movies I’ve seen in years have been horror films. Who would have thought?

I feel this way with M Night Shyamalan. Love his movies. I can't wait for season 2 of The Servant on Apple TV.
