Default What do you do with your Card Hoards

Hello, I am sure everyone here has the same problem I have What do you do with your card hoards......I am getting 5,000 count boxes stacked to the ceilings and my wife is getting pretty mad at me.House is starting to look like a card shop exploded ...The problem is I dont want to throw these away and they are the more tough stuff to sell. example is I but a ton of older sets to break up I must have broken up at least 50 1986 Topps sets this year just to pull a few key RCs to get graded and keep for the future. Keep in mind I am not a reseller and do not sell in shows or have the time to nickel and dime this stuff on ebay.. So what do you do with your lower end stuff $1 to $10 range cards. Also Commons. Looking for advise or a good Divorce attorney....

I sold cards in USPS flat rate boxes at about 5000-7000 on Mercari for about $35 with free shipping. I had about 12 boxes mixed of the same thing you had. I bought them all from a guy who was buying up old sets, and packs and pulling stars for grades. I taped 2 flat rate boxes together, wrapped in brown paper and shipped Fed Ex via Walgreens. Fed Ex nor Mercari came back to me about shipping weight which wasn't accurate. I think I made $10 a box after it was all said and done.

You to far or you could add to my inventory...I already did the attorney thing...although looking back while I'm much happier...it set me back 5 maybe 10 years financially given the blood bath I took in the proceedings (and lets not forget, technically when it comes to things depending on the state you live in...she already owns 1/2 those cards...).

But I never liked the storage unit idea...thats costing me money on things while I want, I really dont need. So to me its wasted money.

The best way honesty is to either set the stuff up for sportlots and see if you cant move the singles, although my inventory is so daunting that its overwhelming and hard to get a solid start, even though I know its one box at a time thought process).

This is a great time honestly to try and move them on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Put a fair price on them and I'd bet guys are willing to pick up boxes for gifts. I know I love finding 5K boxes for 10-15 bucks (if ones solid 86T then I wouldnt expect it at 15, but you get the idea) and i'll go through and sort them for things I want. To me its much more value than going through a blaster box.

Others will put the time/effort into sorting them out by teams and doing larger team lots.

I put them up for sale locally and have people pick up boxes. Get about $10 or so per 5k box of commons. If you have better stuff just price accordingly and let people know what's in them approximately

I donate a lot of my commons to the local Boys and Girls Club. The kids and staff love it and you get a nice tax deduction. As far as the IRS knows, $0.25 per card adds up quick at tax time. You can even carry over if you reach the max. Keep track though!
