Bumping to the top of 260, I still cant believe you got that out of a few packs from Houdini's repack boxes.

You're telling me! I was pretty excited. Not a bad pull for literally one pack out of the mystery box. I missed the boat on the product when it was on pre-sale through Topps so never opened any until this pack!

So this was probably a newbie mistake...
Thrilled with the Trout base refractor I pulled, I merrily sent it off to BGS feeling pretty certain it would be the first BGS 10 in the population. The grades showed up online today and at first I was a little surprised: Centering: 9.5 Corners: 9.0 Edges: 9.0 At this point, I'm thinking, "Hah. Okay I have a terrible eye for this sort of thing. Sure, whatever." And then comes... Surfaces: 2.0 So, ummm, it seems like the 2 options are that I'm blind, or something happened in shipping. FWIW, I had the card packaged in a penny sleeve, in a card saver, sealed in a little plastic one touch pouch, attached with painters tape in between 2 pieces of cardboard, inside a small bubble mailer that fit the cardboard like a glove. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the card before sending it to BGS (USPS priority). Any guesses what happened? Do I have any recourse, given that I do not have a before photo? On the plus side, it really is a POP 1! |

This is Beckett's description although only a subgrade in your case, this still applies This is VG/EX 4 Surface: Heavy print spots. Hairline creases. Moderate color or focus imperfections. Moderate border discoloration. Moderate wax stains. Very light ink mark or tape stain. A good deal of gloss lost from surface. Very minor scuffing or an extremely subtle tear in the form of a touch of broken surface paper. This is Very Good 3 Surface: Heavy print spots. Very minor creases. Noticeable color or focus imperfections. Noticeable border discoloration. Noticeable wax stains. Light ink mark or tape stain. Very little surface gloss. Minor scuffing or a very minor tear. This is Good 2 Surface: Severe print spots. Noticeable creases. Noticeable color or focus imperfections. Noticeable border discoloration. Heavy wax stains. Moderate ink mark or tape stain. A surface devoid of gloss. Noticeable scuffing or a noticeable tear.

Ripped the two boxes I’ve stashed since July. Not thrilled with the hit and thought the black was Robert at first. I think I did well relative to these being $55 a box, but not at them being $400 a box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Those two boxes are solid! Better than my two (I got all those same RCs except for Robert, I had Aquino instead : /). Not every box can have a $500+ monster...

Given how far base sales have fallen, I wish anyone opening these at current prices the best of luck. Would've liked to open a couple on Christmas, but I think these are $200-250 boxes, value wise, at this point.

Couldn’t agree more. It used to be that the base provided a lot of great value relative to the price of the box, but now that LouBob’s selling around $80, it’s tough to salvage the value if you don’t hit any good refractors. I’m hoping value does come back down the road, as I feel there’s a lot of potential with this set. Unfortunately I don’t see boxes falling below the $375 - $425 mark which is where they’ve basically settled in at.

yeah i can probably convince myself to buy some to rip at $350 just because there are so many supers still out there and i just love this product so much, but at this point anything in the 400s is a pass for me unfortunately

I fully expect Topps to do something. Whether its autos or parallels or both, they will do something.

Thanks for the reply, I actually just spent my budget for this month unfortunately. Project 2020 reeled me back in with Matt Taylor's Mike Trout. I'll PM you about the Silver Kepler when I'm able to reload.

Maybe Autos. I hope there aren't any parallel colors.

A few recent auctions surprised:
Mike Trout Silver $597 Aaron Judge Silver $131 Mookie Betts Gold $231 Bo Bichette Silver $343 Vlad Jr Silver $157 Recent Graded Auctions: (Last 60 DAYS) Juan Soto Red PSA 10 $1330 Bryce Harper Red PSA 10 $480 Keston Hiura Silver PSA 10 $131 Carlos Correa Black PSA 10 $48 Jose Altuve Gold PSA 10 $66 Gavin Lux Silver PSA 10 $1000 Ronald Acuna Gold PSA 10 $695 Kyle Lewis Gold PSA 10 $299 Steven Matz Gold PSA 9 $10 Bubba Starling Silver PSA 9 $19 Kyle Lewis Black PSA 9 $167 LouBob Black BGS 9.5 $3200 (29 Nov) PWCC *cert ending 1216 LouBob Black PSA 10 $2650 (27 Nov) LouBob Silver BGS 9.5 $963 (14 Nov) LouBob Black BGS 9.5 $5861 (18 Oct) PWCC *cert ending 1216 LouBob Gold PSA 9 $1190 (13 Oct) LouBob Black BGS 9.5 $2523 (8 Oct) Mike Trout Gold BGS 9.5 $650 (26 Nov) Mike Trout Silver BGS 9.5 $867 (22 Nov) Mike Trout Silver BGS 9.5 $1259 (7 Nov) Mike Trout Black PSA 9 $968 (2 Nov) Mike Trout Gold PSA 9 $685 (1 Nov) Mike Trout Gold PSA 10 $1334 (18 Oct) Some observations: Boxes sold out at DACardworld at $375 and sit on ebay at $425. Singles prices are trending down unless you're Vladimir Jr or Mookie Betts. Lux being higher than Kyle Lewis is nuts. People still love Aaron Judge.Golds are selling less than silvers but I think its been that way since the beginning. Grading doesn't seem to get better value unless you're Lux. PWCC gets the better prices.

Once baseball season picks up again, prices should trend up..... In the long term, this entire set should hold value very well
