If it was produced anywhere in the world in the last 150 years and depicts a human being, I collect it.

Wow, a real answer.

I do mostly modern but I do have a good (in my eyes, but not anything compared to some here) collection of vintage. I've always liked the designs of older cards compared to the newer.

I buy modern. I buy mainly singles. I like collecting the players I see on TV and on my fantasy team at the current moment. It’ll be vintage eventually. I’ve been collecting comics for 30 years, so i have experience seeing that transition. It’s fun.

I prefer modern as there’s more variety.

I break modern and flip the sales to buy vintage. I love the look and history of vintage. I personally love a mantle, Mays or Aaron card over trout, acuna jr or mookie betts! Nice to see what’s interests people have. For me it’s mainly vintage.

This was a real answer. My collection spans the 19th century up to 2020. I have cards from America, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, Argentina, Canada, England, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Egypt, Australia, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, South Africa, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and I'm probably forgetting some.

I have cards of baseball, football, basketball, hockey, boxing, golf, track & field, cycling, auto racing, swimming, flying, skiing, UFC, futbol, nonsports cards for movies, actors, and directors from the past 140 years, plus an array of other nonsport subjects like historical, presidential, or fictional. And again, I'm probably forgetting some stuff.

My collection touches every corner of the hobby.

Arthur

Only modern but I've been trending towards mid-90's to 2010 for a while now. Vintage simply doesn't pull any strings for nostalgia and I can get my kicks for older timers through cards I grew up with.

Both I suppose, although I only have a couple dozen 50s 60s cards. Bulk of my collection is 1970-2020, some may say that is all modern, I think anything before 1979 is vintage. YMMV.

Modern! More and more people easily forget about the vintage stuff, and the prices on most stay the same... while modern has exploded!!! I like to know that what I collect is valuable.

My SIL called the other night...

They had acquired some cards in the 1980's from an uncles estate.

All that was left was a sheet of 1953 Topps.... Podres and a few others.

She gave away minty 1st generation Pokemon to an at needs student in her class.

Long gone were any trace of the other 1953 Topps.

Sad night in JaxFLA this weekend.

Modern, because I watched them play and can tie memories to these cards easier.

Modern: Mariners players. Keep hoping someone will make a difference.

Older Modern: Guys I saw play live when I was a kid (right now focused on age 11 which means Mattingly and Willie McGee)

Vintage: anything and everyone, but love the Mecca double folders and S74 silks.
