2019-2020 Panini Status (TMALL exclusive)

I just busted a 20 box case. Not that impressed (tho I really wanted to be). Did not get a single Zion until the 11th box even though I had 6 of some other rc. Only 2 autos in the 20 boxes. One gold /10 (Sekou), four /49 and twelve /125. Ended up with two Zion and twelve of some others.

Dang, sorry to hear that. I loved the look of it last year and this year and wanted to take the plunge on a case, but after looking at as many breaks as I could find, this seemed to be the norm rather than the exception.

I have zero idea what the parallels are called but the set that looks like Topps "foilboards" are in-credible looking!

Panini is calling those foilboards Blue. They look a bit more grey to me though.

They had to skimp on the color ink to save on costs due to underwhelming lack of sales on their Basketball releases this year...

I doubt this, but I just want to check. Does anyone know it this is still available on Tmall? I remember there was apparently a good quantity still available a while ago.

I’m thinking about picking up a few boxes to hold.

As of last Thursday there were 80 boxes and 9 cases available but they are re-adding as the numbers sell out.

It looks great, I just wish the boxes were bigger. 60 cards for $200 is steep. Basically a mega for the price of a hobby

Since it's hobby only, isn't it more like a hobby box for the price of like 1/3 of all other hobby boxes?

They've never stopped being available or come close to not being available. 225 boxes and 46 cases as of this post. Boxes have essentially gotten 15% more expensive though since release given the devaluation of the dollar vs. rmb

I appreciate the information. Does anyone have an in from China here that can get them from tmall? Or, is there any decent way to buy from tmall in the U.S.?

It's most comparable to first year 17-18 status in my opinion rather than 18-19 and hence I'd treat the tmall status like a hobby box.

However on the downside, unlike 17-18, there isn't the guaranteed hit per box. Also, far less numbered which only seems to be 1/box in these.

On the plus side though, as a long time fan of revolution, status has never looked better aesthetically. The upper echelons are great, and with the checklist for that being only 10 cards and 1-2/box, you should get close to 2 full sets of upper echelons per case. I feel like so little of this product has either made its way over or has been ripped. There are so few singles to buy. However, with these boxes being the only version of status, everything on the checklist is pullable including all the 1/1 swirl-o-ramas, /10 golds, etc. Those numbered Lukas/LeBrons/top rookies when pulled and graded should be big cards.

Seems to be like more of a "fun" product for now given the low price point with not as much investment upside. However, I said the same thing about select tmall waiting forever for that to go up and ripped way more than I should've considering it's 1.5-2k/box now. The regrets

Since it's late and I'm bored/curious given this truly is a weird product in that it's reasonably priced but yet seems like it will never sell out. If it's true that it's one numbered per box and with only 1 SKU:

White Diamonds – /125
Green Escher Squares – /49
Gold Fireworks – /10
Swirl-O-Rama – 1/1

So that's 185 numbered cards total. There's a 200 card base set. There's 4 insert sets of 30/30/30/10 so 100 cards total. Therefore, it's 300 cards and 185 numbered versions of each of those cards. 300*185 = 55,500. With 20 boxes to a case, that's 2,775 cases.

Compared to other products, is that a crazy number or no? 55,500 boxes and 2,775 cases. That feels to me like a massive massive print run but I don't really have anything to compare it to. But that's an outrageous print run if true especially compared to optic and select tmall which I had at about 300 cases and only 12boxes/case when I did the math back when

There is something strange going on in general with tmall numbering. Remember the Select NBA boxes that said gold wave RPAs were numbered to 10 but then they weren’t? Mosaic nfl gold waves are numbered to 17, but NBA unnumbered?

I’ve personally opened 6 boxes of Status and pulled 2 gold /10, 1 /49 and a few /125. Maybe I got lucky with the golds I guess. Of the /125 only 1 was a scrub, the others were curry and Morant. I’m not saying the scrubs weren’t packed out, but it just feels off to me somehow.

I guess I never questioned when the box itself states a certain numbering. I can't imagine that's actually incorrect though because that would just be straight up making false claims to customers.

With status though, given it's seemingly endless reloads and randomly just boxes and cases appearing out of nowhere, not sure how they are going about it. It's hard to tell because there isn't a case hit. Basically, if I randomly bought and opened 20 boxes, for all I can tell there's no difference between that and opening a sealed case. So maybe that second gold you hit was just random chance in 6 boxes

I got a new case today and opened a box with a dinged corner. Crazy, but I got another Ja Morant base /125. I sold the 32/125 on eBay and now have the 124/125 in hand. Seven boxes. I’m crazy lucky but this seems... improbable.

Potential sleeper product? Or is this a product to avoid? Has this dried up yet on tmall?

I’m a big Status fan, but I’m having trouble pulling the trigger on any more.
