**Official Luka Doncic Thread**

Man the emotions in this thread. I didn't really hear any negativity just honest assessments of what was seen at the beginning of the game. Maybe I missed it but I didnt read where anyone was seriously saying Luka is garbage and to sell sell sell. Dude had a bad start and is not in tip top shape yet and still had 32/8/5. With all the anticipation for the season and expectations for Luka this year every little thing he does is gonna be scrutinized. Its just the way it is, not necessarily negativity.

What's happening here is that the non-basketball people (investorbois) are creating this imaginary world where Luka averages a 40pt triple double and carries his team to a win every single night and when he doesn't live up to these wildly unrealistic expectations they make emotionally unhinged posts here on blowout.

My god. Guy gets 32/8/5 and the world goes crazy??

If Luka hits 80% of his free throws this year and can get his 3point % up to 40 , he is going to average 37 a game easily.

This kid is still learning to play in this league. He is on ultra superstar status playing in a Western Conference that is rough every night and he will be on National TV daily. The scope on Luka is on high blast. No player has this much on him at 21 and social media is on him at a high level too. Lebron at 21 is the only one who can relate to this scope.
Trae is in a conference where he will get 3-4 games per week against College teams.

Dallas needs Porzingis back badly to spread the floor more. Luka could have easily had 6-8 more assists on corner three kicks

I don’t necessarily mind if people are honestly analyzing games and praising/critiquing players, but the amount of posts I’ve seen in a lot of player threads taking a jab at (fill in the blank player) in order to elevate (fill in the blank player) is kinda sickening and pathetic.

Luka is an amazing player with a lot of hardware in his future. There is a lot priced in with Luka and he is too pricey for me so I’m not stacking any; however, if I was sitting on a stack, I would be very very patient before I thought about selling anything. Keep in mind he’s only 21, a nightly triple double threat, and the MVP favorite on a playoff contender. He is the epitome of a statistical machine. I would hold those Lukas unless you want to offload a bit to build up a PC of a different player.

This is exactly what I was thinking. A lot of defensiveness created out of nothing. He looked rusty and out of shape. I don’t think anyone expects him to look like that all year.

I watched some of the game, not really seeing the overreaction everyone else is. Luka looked fine, first game after a short off season vs a hungry revamped opponent. Guys didn't hit there shots and Luka still put up an ASG statline

If he made the same leap from Y2 to Y3 % wise, we're looking at:

39.1 ppg
11.3 rpg
12.9 apg

In other news...either yesterday's Blue Ice PSA 10 ($70K) was crazy out of whack or the White Sparkle PSA 9 ($30K) was a steal.

Luka has been so good, so early, that it's warped people perceptions of how good he can be.

He's near a peak statistically so now to take the next step he needs to start winning in the postseason

Naw it’s just that most collectors are anal about higher end cards being serial numbered.

I understand its not blue, but the purple /75 went for 25K. Where as the cracked ice LIGHT blue went for 2.8X times that???? Why would a more scarce card go for that much less? Just because the other card is a shade of blue?

I would be really curious what’s the vakue of the /199 Blue PSA 10 if the Blue Iv is 70K. Any guess?

Even if the card wasn't a Blue Luka, I think Blue Ice has a bigger following than Purple (you can say it's the basketball version of Sapphire).

/75 and /99 aren't too much of a difference, either. At that point, I'd go for what looks nicer.

Would the Ayton Purple outsell the Ayton Blue Ice?

Lol I'm not even a huge Luka fan but the dude put up 32-8-5 with 1 turnover in a game where:

1. He was guarded by one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA (Suns fans literally call Mikal "Wingstop" and say he puts players he guards in "Mikal Jail"
2. He shot 0-6 from 3
3. He was playing without arguably the best floor-spacing big in the NBA

If this game makes people think the sky is falling then he's even better than I thought

The all Instant Gratification of the new era is really setting in the Trading Cards Market. The what have you done for me lately, as in last night. The did you win and score 40pts? Get ready for the Wild West in daily & weekly fluctuations for BB the next 3 months.

The concept is not new, just the market went from the Model T to a Muscle Car.

When PWCC Auctions of the same card go for 40% higher than a Buy It Now still listed, something is terribly wrong.

I have a purple psa 10 and was shocked at the price difference. Does the color blue really carry that much of a bump over a lower pop parallel. Call me crazy

Two great parts from last night. When whistle blew for off ball foul and Luka tossed up a 3 from the logo and nailed it. Threw his arms up and gave the “so I can make that one” look. Then when Richardson’s shot spun around the rim for an eternity, like it was attached to a string in the 80’s movie classic Monster High. Mavs reactions were great.
Everyone knows he will be fine. Just have to deal with the way people are now, and it would have been insanity the other way if he had a huge game. One bad game from a QB and everyone loses their mind. Only a lot more difficult for them to recover. At half, Luka had played some of his worst since joining the league. You still thought he would finish with a triple double. Big showing on Christmas more important than this one.

Yes the color makes a huge difference and whether it's a hobby parallel only as well, retail and fast break are valued substantially lower.

You can’t really use blue ice as a comparison - for those it’s not even matching blue the blue are just SO nice that they command a heavy premium.

Someone above mention Ayton color match vs blue ice I’m very confident that the blue ice would outsell purple there substantially.

People like the classic colors - silver and blue then they like the sapphire esc finish of all the ice variations

Purple does nothing for most people. It was an add on color and not highly sort after unless it match the team color.

Not a total purist, but give me the original color, silver, green, gold, black and a blue and I am good. I do like the cracked ice versions, but would not lean toward those if buying for PC.

Yeah I’ve noticed that for sure. Just thought the purple /75 would have been closer in price to the blue ice /99. I got the purple way before the team color became a thing. I’m in at such a low price, I can’t complain.
