Not sure it’s a good or bad thing that were basically comparing 21 year-old Luka to a post-prime LeBron who, at 35 and literally thousands of NBA minutes on his body, spends millions of dollars a year to stay as close to peak as possible. Was 21 year-old LeBron doing that? Was any 21 year-old NBA superstar doing that?

All these player threads are the same..if Luka doesnt go for 40-12-10 while the mavs never lose a game the sky is falling...most people who are defending arent disagreeing that he's out of shape...what they roll there eyes at is that we're 4 GAMES INTO THE SEASON..4..one week...and people are already proclaiming how Luka's not what we thought he was. But that's BO for you..luckily despite taking bait and engaging with these idiots...most of us don't take anything these clowns say serious. It's not like I read the sky is falling posts and immediately go to ebay to list my Lukas bc some random guys with an agenda say so..I just roll my eyes and shake my head and write long diatribes to express how stupid their posts are lol

Powell needs to be benched for a little while he's been a rotating door on defense. I love the guy but he's clearly not ready for full minutes yet. Put Kleber in his role he's a much better defender and shooter. And play Boban more minutes is the recipe. They need to go back to more of last season regular rotation until they can get the rotation under control.

Have i watched a game? I'm probably the biggest Mavs fan on this board. I know more about this team than probably 99% of anyone here. I watch every game for the last 3 years.

I have 0 Luka cards and I want him to do well. Luka doing well is good the league. Need young guys to be superstars. I think he just needs more help around him. There’s too many good players today, one guy can’t do it all anymore. Really hope Zingis can stay healthy.

Yes piss poor execution is killing them. They need to get some cohesion going. Right now they're just a jumble of players that haven't played many games together. That's why i think they need to go back to more of last years rotation until they can work out the kinks.

I would say the analysis has been keeping it real - how I read the analysis is that Luka hasn’t played his best - his stats could have been better if his teammates were knocking more shots down - his 3pt shots have been short which is generally tied to leg strength and conditioning. With all of that it’s been admitted by Luka and Cuban that he was in quarantine at home without access to a gym and wasn’t able to work out as much as he normally does.

I think the pushback you are seeing is against the narrative that this is the real Luka and I think to assume that is absolutely ridiculous I’ll take the two year sample size over the 4 game sample size 100 times out of 100. Especially when the 4 is following an 8 month quarantine.

Everyone who can't get off of Lebron's tip have short memories. I would be curious about the hot takes about him after he stormed off of the court after getting dominated by Dwight Howard and the Magic in the ECF. Or maybe the next year when they got drubbed by the Celtics. Or Maybe in 2011 when his dream team in Miami got blasted by Dirk and the Mavs.

Long story short, it took Lebron nearly a decade to win and that whole time he was being criticized and belittled and attacked as not being as good as Jordan, etc.

Sound similar? Obviously Luka hasn't done an iota of what Lebron has, but it just sounds familiar to me. Luka, like Lebron, will be GREAT. Like Lebron, there will be some fall on your face moments but that is how growth occurs. Lebron is the Champion he is today, not in spite of his failures but in large part due to them.

As a newish poster I see a pattern. People get mad at criticism but I think it’s just a way of trolling the nauseating pumping when they do well. In my 50 years of Sports talk, the Patrick Mahomes thread might be the most cringe worthy as anything I’ve ever come across. Grown men calling him Patty, SMH. Man card violation of the highest degree.

It’s not that Luka is a bust, it’s just people don’t want to hear about how he is the GOAT after 1 Great game because you are invested in him.

The game to game value pumping is ridiculous. Let’s just enjoy a young player and talk about the player, not the card values.
