No, he's talking about a separation between personal and business machines. Also a separate machine for separate businesses (i.e Amazon and eBay seller accounts). Makes sense, a laptop to do each only costs $350.

I got caught up and bought a ton of packs the last week. Only halfway to a Series 1 set but have a complete Series 2 set thus far. I'm about to post doubles to recoup funds. Apparently believing in what LaMelo brings to the NBA has paid off. We'll see where that goes.

I can say this, I'm not a fan of the print run saying 7500+ now for the Series 2 commons. I was under the impression they were all of /4000

Yup, the big rookies /4000 5x in the last day and a half.

Getting ready for tomorrow. Buy packs or let people buy packs and scoop up the singles ? IDK

I really hope they can get the website in order and properly handle the traffic. They probably killed off a ton of momentum today with site issues.

Resell calendar mentioned it as well, the discord has been overrun with people talking about it.

My main concern with this involves the urgency to recoup VC/beta money for the NBA with the minimal time/effort it takes to separate all of the NBA highlights into their respective cards. Make no mistake, we are still eking out some human interaction to create these opportunities (and, no doubt, to help level-set some of the m/billions of lost income because arenas are still empty, and Doordash nachos and beer don't ameliorate the cost of running food and merch stands, and "being there").

It could continue to rise in popularity and sales, and, I'm not sure whether I fall on the side of "total wash" or "novel fandom". But I would say looking ahead to ASG weekends (Dunk Contests), Playoffs/Finals, and rookie/sophomore campaigns, we are looking at the potential for premiums, scarcity, and cross-audience appeal. I wouldn't be surprised if baseball (and football) has some sort of this activated this year...and I bet Panini Blockchain is ticked off.

Sorry, I should have clarified.

I think it's a safe bet given the interest, minimal effort (likely) needed to create "moments", and current state of the hobby, that it'll be around for at least this season and likely next season as well. So ASG weekends in the future, or events where they can sink a proper production budget into exclusive photo/videoshoots...that's probably where this is going. If it busts, it will be because the in-person audience returns and sales cannot sustain (perhaps other blockchain options prevail).

I'm an equal-opportunity sort of person, so if this is your thing (it's definitely not mine) more power to you. I just think those types of reactionary events will have an impact on the market for these things.

dont over think things. Sometimes not understanding something is a opportunity to something you would not get overthinking.

This exactly. I'm not parking a ton of money in this, nor do I think anyone else necessarily should. But to just write it off because "I don't get it" is pretty foolish (and trust me, I don't get it).

Default NBA Top Shot - High Risk, High Reward?

Bit the bullet and got some packs, pretty cool stuff. Not sure what’s considered good or not but got a Ja Morant so I think that’s good?

When you brought this up, I was thinking about the NFL Rookie Photoshoot. As collectors we're really stuck with just cards. It would be great to have a few clips of Patrick Mahomes or imagine having a clip of Brady in the 2000 combine. Would the impact of greatness have an effect on a product like this?

I have to say, I busted a bunch of Series 1 Packs and it was enjoyable. I have a list of clip doubles and a few were Luka and LeBron. Seemingly anything serial numbered less than 4000 for the top guys are worth a couple Benjamins. Between LaMelo and those two guys I'm at the break even mark. I think I'm gonna hold onto a set and sit once I find the right time to sell. I dont know where it's going but I also dont want to see it go the route of P2020 and rather be at its peak.

I'm on board with that. The next drop is tomorrow at 5pm titled "Cool Cats" which contain 1 of 5 "Cool Cat" players and 4 Series 2 base clips.

KEY STATS
Pack cost: $14
5 Moments per pack.
Drops: 5 PM PST, Monday, January 18
Number-capped Moments: Each Cool Cats Moment is limited to 5000 per edition

Google CL here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1174253754

So with 5 "Cool Cats" on the checklist and 5000 of each, that's 25,000 packs.
I'm not liking those numbers already

It's a very new and strange niche. Even myself can't get persuaded to try it. We are already dealing with pieces of cardboards which we put a price tag. On that note we can print those but they don't hold value as the original print.

So to go Digital???? I am not sure anymore.... If I were panini, that Digital better be backed by real copy somewhere in storage and probably get a way with sticker auto based on how many they have.... smh

P2020 was easy to see as it was a print on demand. Those just don’t work for obvious reasons.

There are two big hurdles with this:

1) Do real people actually want to pay money for a gif?

^^^
This was free, but honestly if I had exclusive rights to the digi-refractor 13/5000 or something, I might pay $13 bucks for it.

2) This company will want to scale and how they do that is increase the print run. The print runs are already absurdly high IMO, but it’s literally just a code input to quintuple them. Panini is somewhat limited in how much they can print of a product because they HAVE to create “x-amount” or product a year, they fill the products with autos/jerseys which are not infinite, and they run on a 3rd party vendors print schedule.

Obviously gif collecting is ridiculous, but I definitely see why some people would want to play that game. Not “5,000 people willing to pay more than a dollar for a Lamelo layup” but still.
