Default 1954 Topps Hank Aaron RC Thoughts???

Hello,

I have a chance to purchase this Hank Aaron RC and I believe that it is real but just want reassurance and to get some opinions on potential value. I believe it would grade a PSA 1 Poor but maybe it might do a little better. Thoughts?

I agree it looks real. IMHO it’d grade a 1.

When all 4 corners are rounded off it makes me super nervous.

I would take a pass on this card. Look at the back of card. Too much bright white showing on the crease area and bottom right corner. If this card has been thru the ringer over time I would not expect to see any bright white on the card. As mentioned earlier the way the corners are rounded gives me pause as well. Not saying absolutely it is not authentic but I would look for another card. Is this an eBay purchase or some place else? Is the seller a trusted seller? Knowing the seller is always helpful in these situations.

The card certainly will grade no higher than PSA 1 and if real could grade authentic.

Until you get that card in your hand you won't be able to tell. If you do not collect vintage baseball and have examples to compare this to, I would stay away. There are ways to tell real versus fakes with magnifying loupes and comparing card stock. I am skeptical of any iconic card like this. That white on the back edges would make me pass. That doesn't look right.

I think it looks legit but don't let my opinion sway your decision.
Post it on Net54 if you haven't already? Lots of knowledge/experience over there for vintage cards like this.

I wouldn't buy an Aaron RC ungraded. Especially when you have to ask on a message board if it is real and no one can say for sure because they can't see it in person.

Looks real to me , but you always taking a chance when buying ungraded. A lot of things cannot see until you hold the card

Might grade authentic due to corners be almost totally rounded don't assume a nice numbered 1 or they could hit you with altered and not slab at all

Others have said it and I agree that those rounded corners are very uniform which is a pretty big red flag to me; the card does look real, but those corners could lead to it being deemed altered and not slabbed.

Card looks a little suspicious for sure. I'd stay away.

If you were to send the card in for grading/authentication would you do PSA? BVG? SGC?

They have already been on the rise. Now they will be fairly unobtainable for some collectors.

Yes I did purchase the card in a lot of other vintage cards from years 1952-1959. Everything else was pretty much commons with the exception of the Aaron. The guy I purchased it from got the cards from his dad who bought them as a kid so I was pretty sure they were authentic. But to make sure I got him to agree that I’ll pay to get it graded and as long as it comes back authentic I’ll be happy. If for some reason it doesn’t then I get a full refund and just lose the money on grading. Felt that was reasonable.

I sent the card off this morning before I seen that Hank passed away. It’s on its way to PSA.

Definitely let us know how it turns out. I just dont think those corners look naturally rounded. I'm going to say Authentic but Altered.
