So sad. My wife and I watched a Braves game a couple years ago when he was in the booth doing an interview. We both really enjoyed listening to him talk about his time and his opinion on Ronald Acuna. He always said hitting was in the wrists. Time to go down memory lane and watch him on YouTube this weekend!

Towards the end of his career, I was able to obtain his autograph on a program at Chavez Ravine. I was so very young, but still remember that day.
Very, very sad day.

A few years ago, the Columbia Blowfish summer collegiate team had a Hank Aaron night. At the time the time the team was using Capital City Stadium where Hank had played in the minors. They stopped the game to do an interview on the field. I took my dad to the game, and the atmosphere was amazing. Watching all these college kids sitting around Hank, huge smiles on their faces, listening to every word was a sight to see. Those of us sitting in the stands were hanging onto every word. The stories, the jokes, the talk of the hardships he faced trying to make it. It was such an amazing night. Something I will never forget.

Chuck Oliver was talking about how we need to do more to honor Hank just yesterday afternoon on 680 The Fan here in Atlanta. I wonder if he knew something the public was not privileged to.

RIP to one of the greatest Ball players and icons to ever grace this Earth.
I was, in part, named after him.

Rough day

This gets me. I was never one to want to meet my idols, or even really have idols, but he was one, and I'm sorry I never met him. A large presence in my mind since childhood. I had to go dig out my two favorite cards.

I remember hearing a story that in his first year of sandlot ball he committed 47 errors. Almost quit the game. Thank god he didn’t.

Mays and Koufax are the only players left that may be considered that Mount Rushmore type player of the old guard

Aaron's consistency and numbers are just amazing

In 1984 I had a friend that worked as a physical trainer with the Montreal Expos. I used to get tickets to any game I wanted to and could go into the locker room after the games. So after a game I am walking back to take the elevator back up to leave the Big O, and Hank Aaron is waiting for the elevator. I recognized him right away. He was very nice for the minute we shared that elevator. I asked him how he likes our city and he said it was his favorite city to visit with the Braves organization. Although he was not a fan of the stadium the Expos played in but said that we have an exciting team at that time. He seemed very classy and just had this presence. I did not want to bother him for an autograph, so I just wished him a good night and he thanked me called me young man and off he went. RIP Mr. Aaron, a real ambassador to this game.

I've lived in Milwaukee my entire life and it is truly a very sad day for everyone here. Hank was an absolute icon in the City of Milwaukee and was just great of a human being as he was a baseball player. I am so grateful I had the privilege of meeting him shaking his hand as a 12 year old kid signing autographs at an Arby's just down the road from old County Stadium. RIP Hank

Man, this sucks. This is really becoming way to frequent.

Seems like every week we lost a legend for the past several months..

Starting with Kobe a year ago, it hasn't stopped.

Across all sports, how many HOFers have passed away since then? So crazy and sad.

I was just thinking this a few minutes ago as well, it's been a rough 12 months all the way around and it seemed to have started with Kobe.

Really sad day.
