The 2021 prices are insane. It doesn't seem very smart to allow flippers to make twice as much per box or case than Topps itself is making. Either we're in a major, major sports card bubble or the Topps executives are dropping the ball.

Are the price increases all profit for the stores selling cases or does Topps increase their own price to the distributors?

My hobby box cost is 57 and jumbo cost is 93

That’s slightly above direct

I’m lucky. But I used to be able to get 5 cases of every thing

How do you think retail odds will be. I don’t know if it’s me but series 2, and update were pure garbage golds foil and color non existence. Compared to series 1 were I got ton of color and autos.

Topps best interest is to print as much as they can without printing so much that prices start to fall.

They have increased production quite a bit over the last few years. That may have been derailed a little bit in 2020 and early 2021, but I expect by 2022 they will be back to the trend line of steadily increasing production.

What is the upside for Topps when only a few can buy cards because they are cleaned out within 10 minutes at the retail level? That is lost revenue for them.

I disagree with most, Long term, you want scarcity. I would rather see Topps decrease production and increase pricing

You've got to be kidding. That's a recipe for having no collector base at all.

How many of us would be here if we couldn't buy packs when we were younger?

Times change.

Times don't change that much. The baseball card hobby is doomed if kids can't collect cards, just like baseball is doomed if kids stop playing it.

Anyone who lets their kids get hooked on watching "breakers" is a bad parent. You'd be better off teaching them how to play poker.

How so? Everything they pit out is sold.

Good ole Joe. Always looking out for the kids.

Dude can't go into any thread without mentioning bubbles, prices, and kids not being in the hobby.

You misunderstand. Topps should increase blasters to $30... a lot easier for kids to find on the shelves, because they’re no longer flying off of them. Topps is selling series 1 hobby for about $50 and the distributors, online stores, and LCS are making $100 profit, how about Topps sells them for $75 and profit now is only $75 for these resellers..

Even if we have to cover that extra $25, with a lower production there will be more value per box..

If the market is flooded with base, we’re just going to see the return of the 90’s crash. Panini is doing their best to make sure that happens. Topps at least seems to have some restraint.

I help out at a shop. There are so many more kids in the hobby now compared to a year ago, it’s crazy.

I think they should print print print until there are always cards on the shelves. Take numbered stuff out of retail so there is no limit to the printing.

The 90's was a lot of fun!!! I enjoyed it immensely and could always find product on the shelves!

They have roughly 300 more limited releases throughout the year. Flagship should be the one for set collectors and those who enjoy the hobby. Make it fun and available.

If it wasn't for Montgomery Club, I'd be ordering boxes of 90 Donruss to rip with my boys. It's more fun when they know some players, though.

From a pure collectors standpoint I agree

Exactly right. There's a middle ground between papering the world with cards like 30 years ago and having almost no cards available to the average non-flipper in stores.

My thought is still raise price, not increase production.

It’s how you better avoid a crash
