Default Cleaning question - Jordan Fleer 1987

Hi all, this is my first post here, hopefully it’s in the right place.

I have an 87 Fleer Jordan, which in my opinion, is in pretty good condition. However I just recently noticed some sort of smudge on the card, to the left of his head. I don’t want to jeopardize the rest of the card, so are there any solutions to possibly wiping it away? It seems pretty “on there” so I’m hoping it is doable.

Image is attached, still trying to figure out the best way to upload images with a mobile device. Had to really zoom in.

Thanks!

I can't see the pic, but I would just start with a microfiber cloth (like used to clean eyeglasses) and gently wiping it with a little pressure. If it continues to improve, continue wiping. Go very slow and repeatedly stop to check progress.

Don’t try anything. These marks are typical for this issue. I’ve had several with the identical mark. It’s actually white ink.

Thanks for the response. If the rest of the card is pretty good (8-9 worthy), do you still think this is worth getting graded with that mark?

No prob! In my experience, the highest I’ve seen is an 8–but like you said, all else has to be really clean—like 9-worthy, to get that 8. Very possible though.

To me it's an easy call to grade this one. Even in 6 territory this is probably a $700 card. If you're looking to sell, you will almost certainly get your money's worth because it seems like people are gunshy with ungraded Jordans from this era (for good reason). If you want to keep it, it means you want to hold onto a very valuable basketball card... the case will protect it and the grade will make it easier to insure.

I would send it in for sure, only question is what level.
