Let’s see one of your INVESTMENT Wax Boxes - I’ll start.... - Page 10

I just got started with sealed wax last week when I found 3 boxes of 2011 upper deck soccer and 4 boxes of 2001 Upper Deck golf for around 300 total. Figured I better start with something I didn't collect to keep the urge to open low. The soccer boxes are around 95 each now, and the golf is around 215 each.

My youth as well.

I have several 1990 Topps in there, just can't see them. This cabinet is like 3 levels deep. Mostly mid-to-late 80s to early 90s. Some modern on the top left.

Lol I was gonna at least take a picture of my loose 70s wax that's not boxed and buried, but I forgot! This weekend sometime, definitely - no errands to run, just Topps Holiday to sort!

These stashes are IMPRESSIVE. I lack the self-control to sit on anything typically, but I’ve been able to save these from getting shredded...

Never have collected sealed wax but recently made my first purchase. Two Jumbo Cases of 2019 Bowman Baseball. Wander/Jrod/Luciano first autos in that set. Gonna stay strong and not rip!

Ok, so after a minor flood in the laundry room and then the washer dying completely this weekend (no joke), I finally at least got pics of some of the loose stuff. I opened up some of the Donruss and a couple of the Bowman and Finest packs a few years back, now wishing I hadn't! More to come box-wise - someday!

For those that invest in wax...if you have a box that has redemption auto's does it change your timeline for holding (ie. needing to sell before the redemption's expire) or does that not matter for the long term value of the product?

That’s a great question. Since I buy and hold loooooong term, I make sure the boxes I buy ( which are based on prospect and rookie cards ) don’t ONLY have a redemption for the player(s) I’m investing in

This has no bearing for me personally. I think for the most part collectors/gamblers aren't buying looking for the auto for past years. Current stuff yes.

Major issue on old wax is of course people trying to open and reseal, but all the folds and the roller seal are pretty crisp on these. Esp. lucked out with those 77s, got about 10 of them about 10 years ago for about $150. Then decided to open most of them to help fill out my set. Ugh. Did get a nice Pete Rose out of them, though!

This is interesting.

I had this situation with 2017 Topps Chrome Sapphire Set. I had planned on keeping it sealed forever; however, it was nagging at me that one of the autograph redemptions was Aaron Judge. I decided to open it a few months before expiration. I didn't hit Judge and was glad I didn't. I got the card I truly wanted, the Ruby Red /10 Bregman Auto which also ended up a PSA 10.

BO had one more set for a long time that I wanted to buy to replace the one I opened but the price increased right around the same time the redemption expired so I didn't bite. I'l miss the sealed set but would much rather have the Bregman. It also allowed me to piece out the base rookie cards.

I don't think I would make the same move with a larger release though unless the redemption was truly the only thing of value in the box.

Some true wax here. Didn't think these would be worth much but the chase for a Bonds PSA 10 has really driven up the value nicely.

Nice! I've never actually opened any OPC myself, only have a few singles. I wonder if that relative scarcity, whether perceived or real, will lead to those 80s boxes blowing up even more?
