I love Trout as much as the next guy buy you’re not buying a house with the Update ever. Maybe a outhouse but that’s about it. Way too many made and has no championships. I know we let the whole post season doesn’t matter in baseball slide but you have to have some rings to realize true potential.

You can buy a nice house in my town for around 75K or so. So that's just 10 Update Trouts. Or 3 Diamond Updates.

Anyways there are a ton of 1986 Fleer Jordan's graded and that hasn't slowed that $$ down. I'm not saying the Trout is Jordan, but Pop only means so much is the player is liked, recognized and collected world wide.

goldin auctions has the (near) update rainbow up for auction and is now live. The black, hope diamond and red are going to be massive sales that i think are going to get a lot of attention. The whole rainbow will probably set record highs for their grades. With baseball right around the corner, i think this auction will be a big.

My last couple of posts have been about goldin auctions. Just want to state I have no affiliation with them or any cards as auction with them. just excited to watch what their auctions do.

it was, and pop reports definitely reflect that. there are 94 PSA 10 cognacs and 294 PSA 10 diamonds. The diamond is just so pretty it catches more peoples eye. But for scarcity, cognac blows it out of the water.

Looks like prices are down to $5,800-$6,000 for the update. I think we’re lucky spring training is starting right away to stop the slide.

Why do you think this Card would ratchet up, and then back down during the off Season — just marketplace ebb and flow?

Man, beats me.

My working theory right now is the US175 is the best way to tell what the rest of the market will do a week or two later.

US175 went up to $8,000. A week later PSA 10’s of junk wax all-stars are selling for multiples higher than anyone has ever seen. Now Trout is dropping a bit and I expect the rest of the market to calm down in a week or two. EXCEPT: Pitchers and Catchers report this week. Spring training games start in two weeks. Who knows what will happen?

I am mostly waiting it out until things calm down. I got burned on those stupid Project 2020 cards and I’m not buying into any hype trains again.

Because vd (intentionally lowercase) aka “venereal disease dave” more commonly known as Vegas Dave spoke and the market reacted. I thought it was cool when the market took off. I was wrong. It’s just irritating from the collector point of view.

Tell me... how many of us are considering selling cards we never wanted to part with because it feels stupid not to? Then do we follow through or just go a little more insane considering it?

Many iconic cards went up tremendously in late January. Across all sports. Most were vintage, but there were some active greats that also saw huge gains. US175 is one of the most iconic modern baseball cards of the last 20 years, so makes sense it would go up as well.

Now of course I think it got a little push from market manipulation... and has had some correction since... but with the growth all-time greats have seen lately, it makes sense that Trout would also get some love.

How does everyone feel with the recent Diamond PSA 10 sale? Think that is legit and stays on the way up, rather than the base on a slight decline, since it is a much more rare/sought after parallel?

The sale shows up on Terapeak, which I think means that the buyer paid. Someone else may be able to confirm or refute my understanding. Also, feedback has been left. Looks real to me.
