Default How often do you use a one touch?

I know some collectors are skeptical about using a one touch in terms of card protection. Granted, for card protection (cards that aren't PC and are for sale), I would go the penny sleeve, top loader, and team bag route. For my PC, I just love looking at my cards and I feel that a one touch gives me the best view of something like a nice optic or spectra with an auto on it. Plainer cards like Donruss insert usually find themselves in a top loader, but the flashier cards often end up in a one touch. Do you use a one touch often or are you scared that they might damage your cards over the long term?

I would take a picture of cards in a one touch and store it in a safer way.

I use alot of mags. Love the look they give.. Kind of a slab without sending your card in look. I have never had an issue with damaging a card. I'm pretty careful tho. But seems like it would be easy to avoid to me.

Yeah, I'm really careful myself. I'm so careful that I can't even stand scratches on the case itself lol. I'll carefully handle the one touch and immediately get it into a team bag.

I haven't noticed any cards being damaged, I'm mostly concerned about surface scratches on cards (especially optic).

You need these.

Any one-touches I have on display are in these. They fit much better - and look so much better - than team bags.

Almost my entire collection is in one-touches.

Can you elaborate on the issues you had with them? It would be good to know if there is something I should be doing differently to avoid damage. I haven’t had any issues to date

Well we both definitely have one touches worth more than our cards.

I think one-touches look the best for displaying cards on a shelf, but if I'm going to store them in a box then I use top loaders.

I saw that Pro-Mold has new one-touch magnetic holders that are designed to be used with the card inside a penny sleeve. That is probably the way to go if you're concerned with surface damage.

There is a belief they can damage edges or corners.

Oooo, I'll have to look those up.

I haven't experienced any issues yet myself, I think damage comes from human error such as not using the correct size one touch or from poor handling.

agree 100%, if you use one touches and like to look at your cards, you try them once you will never go back

had a high end optic card arrive recently in a one touch ... had a bunch of surface scratches .. seller claims wasnt there before.

Im not so sure how well they wont scratch your stuff at home, but seems stupid to use them to ship if not willing to at least LAY a sleeve on top.

I'd love to use them more frequent, but I dont trust them without sleeves so I store most in card saver 1's , and some other stuff in premium top loaders. Have debated going all premium top loaders, but I can fit a whole lot more in a box if using card saver 1s and they are all protected fine as i dont manhandle ish or have kids surfing through them.

The theory is they shift around and bump the edges. Also that the surface rubs against the inside of the cover, and “something” in there is abrasive.

I used one touches a lot more when I first got back in 2017.

In the last year I’ve pretty much gone straight sleeve/top loader and team bag. All my one touches are empty in my supply drawer.

Wouldn't that just be from an incorrect one touch size (user error)? The majority of my cards fit perfectly (no wiggle room) since I measure exactly the size I should be using. The only thing that I would consider as a possibility would be surface scratches, but I would assume that can only occur if dust particles or some kind of particles is allowed entrance into the one touch. From my experience so far, I've yet to experience any damage. However, the thought of a card without a sleeve does irk me.

PC Cards that I display on the shelf all go in one-touches. They're not getting handled so no chance at damage, and they look better that way and have UV protection. Everything else goes in a sleeve/toploader.

i keep seeing these kind of posts and i have to say if you cannot store your cards in a one touch without damaging them, i am not sure you need to be in the card business. it makes me think some of you put your valuable cards in toploaders and use them for frisbees or something. if you put them in a one touch and keep them stored in a box and just take them out to look at them now and then, it is hard to see them getting damaged.

Never.

Either in PSA slabs or in pennysleeve/toploader/team bag

Anyone using team bags should really try superior for sleeves. They are a really great product.

I do not use one touch because if it is resale or PC I do not like the way the edges can get dinged up if the card moves around too much.

They have been known to scratch "refractors" or those metallic type surfaces, I haven't noticed it myself but that is what I was warned about when using them. I prefer them myself.
