Default Where are the T206 Honus Wagners

Does anyone know where they actually are?

I know where one is - a T206 Wagner owner reached out asking if my 1899 M101-1 Sporting News Honus Wagner rookie was for sale. Though mine is way older and rarer, I'd be more than happy to trade him!

It is rather interesting that in the hottest sports card market in history no one is selling their Wagners.

Wasn't Ken Goldin just flying on a private jet, the other day, to sell one?

Hauls of Shame in 2018 did an article detailing where nearly all 64 known wagners were located.

There is one in the current Heritage Auction. 3 others have sold in the last 6 months. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more sell soon.

Default I know where these two have been...

A local friend of mine owned both of these. They were sold and have passed through a few collections and auction houses since. I have a better pic somewhere but had this handy. You can trace them by their specific flaws.

Do you guys think the Wagner would do that well these days - relatively - given that so much of the activity in market is driven by new entrants who are generally more focused on basketball and the hot names of today? The guy who bought the PSA 9 Mantle said he had never even heard of the Wagner facepalm

Yes, I think the PSA 8 or the PSA 5 (the "Jumbo" one) would each set new records for price paid for a sports card.

Would've been better as T206 Sapphire.

Right? Non-auto, non-chrome. Not even serial numbered. I don't get all the fuss. At least put some googly eye emojis in the borders next time tobacco companies!

Did kids even have bicycles back then? I would think some were used as toilet paper or kindling to keep the fire in the house going.

Yes, the Wagner would do incredibly well. It is the top dog of all things cardboard. New cards are being hyped, so we hear all the time about records being broken, but the same is happening with vintage key stuff as well. I've been tracking versions of my cards and the market is going super crazy on them as well.

This altered is currently at 915k w/buyer's premium. I am curious to see how well it ends up! https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515 A PSA 1 back in Nov. did nearly 1.4 million.

At what point does the M101-x Ruth card challenge that status?

I speak in the company of experts. In common parlance it is "the Babe Ruth rookie card." (The '14 Baltimore card being pre-rookie and almost uncollectable given the almost nonexistent supply.)
