If they ever want to be a contender, they have to flank Zion with a couple guys that can consistently knock down threes. It’s that simple.

He will get shooters open because the only prayer defenses have of stopping him is to collapse with multiple players in the paint when he drives. Zion has shown he will kick out to the open man, but they simply can’t shoot well enough to capitalize on the opportunities on a consistent basis.

That is why he should start shooting the open 3's when he has them. He cannot shoot much worse than the overall team is right now on open 3's. I bet you he hits more, actually.

Also, having guys like Kira who can also penetrate and create lanes and NAW who is at least somewhat a threat over a guy like Bledsoe to hit a 3 should get more PT. Granted NAW has been bad. So I can see argument against it. But maybe if he had consistent playing time, that wouldn't be the case. At least get Kira in there.

Ingram played 32 min He’s supposed to be the best player on the team. On a night that Zion doesn’t play he has 17 points? The Pelicans lost the game same reason they have most of the their games down the stretch-Fundamental basketball.

NAW had a couple good games and then has squandered all of his opportunities that he earned. I can see the potential in Kira, but I don’t think he’s the answer even in the long term. They need knockdown SHOOTERS badly so they can play the inside-outside game.

I do actually think Zion would knock down open threes better than many of his teammates. Any time the ball is in his hands the defense back pedals and immediately looks to seal off any angle to the basket (and many times the defense just looks terrified and on edge to be honest).

While currently, I wouldn’t mind him taking a few more open threes, it would still be far more beneficial to have threats spaced out on the floor rather than allowing defenses to keep 80 percent of the focus on Zion. If he starts knocking them down, the defense won’t be able to sag as much, but it would still be better to have guys out on the wing that could catch and shoot. This spreads out the floor and gives Zion someone to kick to so defenses can’t cheat on him so much without getting punished.

Ingram can shoot but honestly seems to lack awareness for where his teammates are at times (or just doesn’t care) and likes to put a lot of his shots up off the dribble. They need more ball movement around the perimeter and less iso from people not named Zion (Zion in iso is almost a guaranteed bucket so I have no problem with him taking on literally any defender).

Ball movement creates opportunities for shooters as well as opening up the drive for Zion. Imagine Zion flanked by the Jazz’s shooters. That team would be an unstoppable offensive juggernaut.

I agree. But they don't have any sharp shooters right now. And when better for him to shoot 3's, work on it and build confidence.
I don't think Kira is the answer long term. Or NAW. But neither is Bledsoe. Kira creates more havoc than Bledsoe with his energy. He gets into tight spaces. It gives the defense another guy to watch getting to the hoop.
They also lack ball movement as well. Lack of a good coach.

But they do have Zion

Wow-can’t believe you 2 have already given up on Kira Very small sample size to say he’s not gonna be the future I see a guy a threat in transition, steals the ball, can get some creative dimes and shoots from 3 decently-better than NAW

I’m not giving up on Kira, I actually really like his potential. With that being said, I just don’t think Kira’s development is going to be the missing piece of the puzzle for the Pelicans. Let him develop and ABSOLUTELY give him more minutes than Bledsoe, but they need a couple knockdown SHOOTERS.

Their perimeter shooting is abysmal and nothing would be more beneficial in the long run than acquiring some shooters to allow Zion to inflict maximum damage on offense. His assist numbers would likely double if he had a GTJ, Hield, Duncan Robinson, Seth Curry, Bogdanovic, Ingles etc. just waiting for the kick out when defenses collapse on him in the paint.

Zion is the only player I’m not flipping right now. Slowly buying up cool rookies and inserts in PSA 10 (refuse to spend $600+ for a base Prizm though) and stashing them in a closet. Hopefully I forget about them for the next 10-15 years and he has a solid career.

lol...I was just sitting here thinking that his PSA 10 base prizm might be one of the best buys with room to move....looking at the different prizm prices and bgs 10 prices...I know there are a lot of them, but no reason to think that card won't be 1000+ soon....

I agree on the shooters. Kira to me is a true point guard. His energy is much like that of Hart which the team needs dramatically. I don’t know I still can’t give up on Lonzo so maybe I’m just tormenting myself lol

Honestly, it might be. But the fact that I pulled multiple, graded them and sold them for like $500 has made me not want to buy one back now. Maybe I’ll grab one at a show in cash for a good price.

The issue that folks are pointing out is that Zion is being priced more like Kobe, despite his current game being more like Shaq. Hobby good requires ball handling, alpha-dogging and taking flight on a regular basis. In order to justify prices, Zion needs more of that. It's possible, but perhaps not likely. That's before you even get to the fact that he needs at a minimum 7-8 (MVPs + Titles + FMVPs). Giannis has two. AD has one.
He's doing it folks! Very exciting stuff.

Pulled this bad boy from a Target gravity feed and have had it listed for a crazy price, but plan to end the listing and hold. No hurry to move as I’m a big fan... I’ve just always had a hard time sitting on big cards when I could use the funds elsewhere
in life.

Figure I’d share since it’s been graded.

Panty dropper.

L/R centering looks delish.

Curious what they may have seen that gave it a 9?

Honestly, thought the same. I think it fell victim to keeping their pop reports low...?
RC logo is just ever so slightly off stamped, but I’ve seen a lot of 10’s much worse. Not sure if it would be worth trying to re-sub sometime.

Terrible. Centering looks pretty darn sensational from what I can see. Aside from a surface or corner imperfection, PSA seems to be a lot more interested in preserving pop reports vs. evaluating what's in front of them.

Yea it’s a damn shame. I’d re-sub again if I wasn’t anxiety ridden during the shipping. Maybe I’ll make a drive down to them this summer during a family trip. Might be worth a shot on it.
