Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of that as well that I think it might even out in the end.

Plus, if you were desperate to cash out and needed to get your money back wouldn’t you just keep a balance and wait until you can withdraw instead of putting it back into the marketplace?

My theory is most of the complaints about not being able to cash out are the people that are strictly pack flippers. Most of the people that have put a lot of money in or have been making a lot of transactions can already withdraw.

You think it's reasonable to make it a 3-4 month process for the overwhelming majority of people to have access to withdraws?

I went through this with P2020.. made a ton of money off it at the start and slowly but surely started to see the trends of a impending crash.

The second the majority of people are able to get their money out of this thing they will.

I never said anything about it being reasonable or not. Of course people shouldn’t have to wait that long to get access to their money.

The whales that control the market already have access to withdraw. A bunch of flippers that don’t hold any moments leaving really wouldn’t change anything.

If I was a potential customer and saw that it took months to get money out, packs were incredibly hard to get, a marketplace that is cooling off, and that overall, a few big collectors controlled the ebb and flow of the marketplace, that would not sound like something I’d want to get involved with.

The key to making this work long term is finding a way to engage new customers.

So I think I am going to bail on the cool cats 3 challenge. I had bought all the 35/K moments but held off on buying any of the cool cats ones while I mulled it over. At this price point I can't see the Jokic reward being worth it. A lot depends on how many complete the challenge, but I see it as a $100-200 value moment at best, which doesn't make up for the likely 25% loss at minimum on the value of the cool cats moments.

Better off buying a few Jokic /15k (down in the 60's now).

I think the only advantage to getting this or the Conley challenge done is to get a shot at a legendary pack. Which hasn't been confirmed yet.

These look like a bloodbath

I would add that collecting is expensive as hell too. If you are a low-end team collector and just want random, high-printed moments from your team, you'll end up expending over 100 bucks right away.

First time poster loooong time lurker.

I’m sure some people will say some negative things. I’ve been on top shot since early January and have 278.15 in dapper.
I’ll trade this for any ~$150 card (real card mailed) I can buy a common top shot from you for $278. And you can mail the card to me. I’ll send first and all that. And gift back whatever topshot I buy for the $278 I’m done with unanswered emails and waiting almost 3 months with no ability to withdraw.

Again been collecting since 1990 and have read this forum for years. Just never felt the need to contribute. I’ll make all the first moves so you have the dapper before you mail me anything. Lmk. If this is against the rules I apologize.

First to offer me anything Lebron, Zion, Ja etc with a roughly $150+ value will likely take it.

Tried posting a screen shot but it’s saying it’s too large.

i'm surprised most of you are in it for the money and not for the love of the GIF's.

I don't have an issue admitting that I collect these somewhat for non investment purposes. The thing I realized after getting back in to cards last year is that I really dislike the physical storage requirement of cards, and I'm really lazy about selling on ebay, I find it is a pain. So comparing those aspects of physical cards to gifs, the gifs win.

That being said I don't have thousands of dollars to throw at these or cards, so I'm not about to take a potential $200 bath just to complete some challenge.

well I got my first wire deposit this morning.

Requested withdraw on 3/23
Payment in bank on 3/29

Feels great to get a 5,000% return on initial deposit.

I think there is a future in this kind of thing, it's just that this platform has a lot of issues, most of which seemed to stem from growing way too fast without having a clear way to keep people invested in the platform.

I have mentioned this before, but my son and I love the platform. It's just a little flawed right now. Someone upthread mentioned that the company seems to want to control and obsess over the marketplace vs. working on core product offering and I worry there might be something to that.

Just got my first withdrawal. Put in a sizable request Friday afternoon and it just hit my bank. Not bad for an obvious scam.

Edit: not sure if it’s been mentioned but $3k is the daily limit for withdrawal.

Man, I would suck to be a whale in Top Shot. It would take forever to get your money out.

It would definitely suck to make millions of dollars in profit and only be able to get 3k of it per day.

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

For most of the people at the top in terms of "value". Their account values are tied almost entirely to super high value moments rather than actual cash so they're really just paper millionaires.

I'd imagine it's not very easy to sell a hundred thousand dollar moment and when 90% of the big guys portfolio values are in 5-6 figure moments they aren't cashing out anytime soon.

It’s funny because with my first withdrawal, I tried to withdraw $100 to my Coinbase wallet for a test and it didn’t go through for a week. Ended up just cancelling it and went with the wire to my bank. Took not even one business day.

I know, I was just joking about the 'sucks to be a whale' part. Pretty sure all of us would gladly trade accounts with them if we could.

Those whale accounts aren’t anywhere near their evaluations. It’s very difficult to move a $1000 moment much less the stuff they are holding. I have/had a top 1% account for a long time and my evaluation is below $20k. The buyer pool for high end is extremely limited.
