Default Shaquille - Just a good dude

Don’t be the first one to say “he did it knowing it would get out” because I don’t care

He just seems like a good dude

And he’s honestly an under appreciated player if you didn’t get to really see him play live

Go down the LSU highlight reel wormhole on YouTube. It’s insane. It really is wild to watch before he got to the NBA

Sure this one "got out" but people close to him say he does stuff like this all the time.

Absolutely one of my favorite “Non-Cleveland/Ohio State” players ever

And usually I don’t care about anyone that isn’t on my team

Shaq is just Shaq.

Always been a fan! Nowadays, more so for this than his game. Too few nice gestures left in the world. If nice gestures were on the PSA registry, they would be a low pop at every grade level.

This one's my favorite Shaq story, hooking up his rookie Mark Madsen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb-Z8Ynu39A

definitely a great guy, that Shaq. Also his cards are not expensive enough undervalued.

Yea now post Shaq's reaction to this when he realized how offensive it was to the guy.

I mean, common sense tells every one that the guy wasn't going to appreciate it.

I don't know anybody that looks at someone with a physical deformity that they can't do anything about and thinks, "This person definitely won't be offended and I would be surprised if he was, then I'll follow up with some public act of kindness/apology."

I'm not telling anyone to boycott Shaq, but a negative act, is a negative act. If it didn't catch fire, no one can say he would've tried to rectify the situation.

Everyone makes mistakes and/or uses bad judgement at times. Solid attempt at devil's advocate, though

Keep hating hater. Shaq is a good dude. His cards are the most undervalued cards of all time. Today’s modern stuff is true junk wax.

It’s alright.

In a decade we’ll repost this when someone says something nice about you.

Shaq was the reason I got into cards. My dad told me about this hot new rookie named Shaquille O'Neal coming into the league that he thought I would like. I didn't collect cards at the time, but NBA was probably my favorite of the big 3 and I went to as many Cavs games as I could get free tickets for. Literally the next day it was Tony's Pizza lunch at school and each lunch came with a pack of 2 Fleer Cards. I opened the pack and Shaq's rookie was on top. If that wasn't fate, I don't know what it is. I super collected him all throughout my childhood and eventually sold the collection for beer money in college. I'm in a position now thankfully to buyback some of my favorite rookies and I'm targeting PSA 10's to rebuild my collection. Maybe one day I'll sell again, but I hope it's year's down the line after he's dead and perhaps I'll use the profits for a good cause as well.

BTW I was so happy when he came to Cleveland. I thought that was going to be THE year. It sucks that he got hurt and the Cavs fell short again, but that was a hell of a season to see him in wine and gold.

Great story, man. One of the first cards I remember pulling was his 92 Upper Deck RC. It has a few marks from my childhood, but definitely still one of my faves (if not favorite) today!
