If Targets really wanted to calm things down, they need to diminish the incentive for waiting overnight/causing issues. That entails reducing the resale value of their product. One way to do that would be to remove the shrink wrap from the boxes as you check out. I'm not advocating for them to do it, but this would kill the flippers profit margins in theory as it should reduce the secondary market price.

If be surprised if they have the right to do that.

I'd imagine people would just switch to hoarding/flipping packs instead of wax - would definitely kill hanger resale prices though.

Not a sneakerhead (even though I keep referencing them), but they do something similar with making buyers wear the shoes out of the store.

I think the wrapping thing could work. But wouldn't completely stop reselling. Ebay sellers do put up blaster packs, gravity feed packs, fat packs. So might slow some down, not a 100% fix.

At this point Target and Walmart should stop selling cards in my opinion. Somebody is eventually going to get hurt because some of these people are absolutely crazy. The only people benefiting are the flippers who apparently have all the time in the world on a Thursday night, Friday morning. Seemingly, Target can control in person sales as much as they do online sales, meaning not at all. They can’t even keep bots from destroying anything popular that goes on sale.

I am disgusted by the whole thing and haven’t bought retail in those stores in months because of it. If I get lucky in a Barnes and Nobel or a Walgreens then awesome otherwise I am out.

When it happens there will be swift reaction by the stores of yanking the products

I find it funny that target will not put ps5 or Xbox x, because they don’t want people camping. But okay with people camping out every Thursday night for cards.

I wish they would move the day to Sunday instead of Friday. I might have to take a day off so I can wait in line.

I saw the video on YouTube we’re people just leave their chairs and then ho the car to sleep, lame

If that ever happened I'm pretty sure it'd only be because Panini/Topps/UD decided to just cut out the middleman and open their own brick and mortar retail locations.

Default My rolling Target stock thread

TIL it’s possible to debate how a line works. You’re either physically in a line or you’re not in the line. There are no proxies based on arbitrary rules made by someone just because they got their first.

I’m all for a random raffle at 8am. It would also help if stores would make their limits consistent. My favorite so far has been one box (mega or blaster) and two hanging items (cellos or hangers). Would also like to see all targets adopt the 8am Friday launch. As it stands today, the crews can still use their insiders to find out when stores stock throughout the week and then hit the Friday drop as well.

He’s not exactly eloquent but he has a point.

You never really addressed the premise of who gets to set the new rules and why?

It’s just all so absurd right now in a lot of places. Show up, check in with blanket boy, get your number and don’t stand in line. But if you do stand in line, don’t expect to have the place in line you actually have because the car people said so.

Shhh.

Don’t speak of Bowman. We can hope they think it’s just another crappy Baseball product.

I’m just pointing out that there is no rule today. It’s store to store depending on what the people there agree to. I’m not sure some guys quoting concert ticket rules from 15 years ago matters.

If the first guys to a store agree that they can all wait in their cars then that’s the local rule. People who show up later are welcome to challenge. Start a fight, cry to the manager, whatever they want to do.

I have said from Day 1 friday at 8am is a shitty policy for most of us because people with nothing better to do than hang out all night will end up beating us all. I was more than happy to use my brain to try to figure out what day and time the vendor would stock, and end up in the top 3-4 once or twice a week at different stores. I have written target off completely now until the rule changes again.

Talking about whether you have to physically be in line or not is a red herring. Whatever the rule those people are gonna get their earlier than you if you aren’t willing to show up at 3-4am.

Difference this year is that flippers will not have 20-40 box lots for sale on ebay. Good chance botters could have some big lots. Will be interesting to see how the megas flush out on the bay and if I am able to get any online with the 3 box limit.

I love bowman mega boxes, and mojos. What I mean is I hope we get a new mega box were the packs are regular packs where you can get color and autos. Basically 2 blasters, plus some kind of exclusive. Maybe to much to ask.
