Yep. Variations WITH color parallels in Sapphire. Pretty much kills the other variations.

Pah, pulled a teal Verstappen variation but it has the back top edge nick and a print line. So frustrating to pull a good card only to find it has condition issues. I was lucky enough to have 5 parallel cards, others were onestaff, one an in-car F2, and an in-car Gasly. The Norris base is clean at first glance, the Ricciardo has a bit of wear on one edge.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but these are printed in Italy too, hence the same issues as regular Chrome.

I purchased a number of singles yesterday and I'm not overly concerned about the condition. I know that's an issue going into it and probably will be across the print runs. Looking forward to seeing these in hand.

I posted my break last night in the Montgomery thread
I hit 2 Aqua Lewis Hamilton's in my break -
One of them the #1 card - but it has that condition issue that people are talking about - there is a purple on ebay - and it as well has the same condition issues...

So probably will limit the PSA 10s - it is almost like the serial numbered cards laminate did not get placed properly. Annoying - but it was still a ton of fun to open

My son and I break all my montgomery club boxes (he is 15) - the Hamiltom #1 /99 was the first card we saw - that obviously made it much better!

With the number of variations in this sapphire set, does that make the original chrome ones (~1 per case) more valuable?

Absolutely it does. Original chrome at 1:228 packs versus the Sapphire at 1:21 packs or from what I'm seeing almost 1 per box....and the refractor version from original looks so much cleaner.

Personally, I still enjoy the original over this. Too busy with the "ice'd out" look....I just enjoy the regular old hobby colors. Plus you can't get autographs out of this

Colors look like they have same damage as Chrome. The base sapphire will do better than the base chrome. Chrome silvers and certain colors will be performing well. Think the auto in Chrome vs no auto in sapphire makes the chase a bit different.

So what’s with cards 1-20 and then having a second set of those In 174-194? Why are 1-20 more desired and could it be possible that people would take to one variation over the other? Like verstappen just for example, people would say his #179 is a superior card to #6 and or that’s not happening and 1-20 will all be more desired? Vs their later #’ed counterparts?

I think they manufacture both chrome and sapphire the same time as they both using same printing plates. No point to manufacture them separately which will make the cost much higher.

Conclusion: all manufacturing defects from original chrome also happen in sapphire.

Chrome regular designs are better imo. Simple is better in this case with all the logos printed across the drivers uniforms or equipment.

I think people were hoping the Sapphire QC would be better than the regular release.
