Guberment isn’t sending out stimulus checks anymore, gas prices are going up, business are forcing people back into the office (more $ spent on gas/lunch), rent & housing prices have gone up 30% over the last few years, groceries are up 10% or more, there just isn’t the disposable income for cards that there was just a few months ago. I think 2020-2021 cards will see a massive drop in value as people see the actual print runs, 2019 isn’t printed as much but it’s still a significant amount over 2018, which was an increase over 2017. It won’t be a crash but more of a correction in card pricing over the next year.

Put another way, life is starting to go back to normal. The 2020 collecting year was driven by circumstances as unusual as those behind the 2020 baseball season. That said, big money is still being spent on cards. For instance, a Tatis Independence Day PSA 10 sold for $8500 the other day. At some point, the people who bid on that card are going to feel comfortable spending similar amounts of Vlad—they might just be more cautious until his emergence proves to be more than just a couple of hot months. Nothing better than clicking on the Stats tab on MLB.com and seeing our recently-turned 22 year old leading the majors in OPS at 1.096. Let that sink in!!
On top of that.....the Jays have ONLY played 18 home games vs. 25 road games. He is certainly crushing it in Dunedin with gaudy stats of .433BA and 1.453OPS. But...in an "off" year of 2020 he still batted .323BA and .945OPS at Sahlen Field and led the Jays in both stats. Oh.....and by the way....#1 in all of MLB according to FANGRAPHS with a 2.9WAR https://www.fangraphs.com/warleaders...=2021&team=all Happy to keep buying all cards of Vladdy. |

"correction" "Dip", whatever you want to call it, does not have much effect on collectors

![]() I don't know one person who has ever enjoyed being called this. You may think it's endearing or that the other person finds it funny but from my experience it is the cause of a lot of future problems for many. I literally cringe everytime I see this mentioned in this thread. Just a small request but let's cut this out a little? |

Quick comparison of Tatis vs Vlad PSA 10 prices on their chrome base, chrome refractor, and sapphire cards. Gap has certainly closed, but you can still get a Vlad sapphire or chrome base for 50% of Tatis. Smaller discount on chrome refractors based on most recent sales.

Yeah, Tatis definitely has some flash and swagger. It's definitely not his defense that separates him from Vladdy either. Tatis has already made 11 errors this season. Sure, Vladdy plays 1B, but he's made just 1. To expand a little, Tatis has more errors than any SS in MLB this year, and hasn't even played enough games to be considered "qualified". Vladdy is in 6th place for 1B with a .997 fielding percentage (due to extra decimals). If we stopped at three decimals, he's tied for 2nd. Last edited by rngrdanny22; 05-22-2021 at 02:37 PM. |

Would be amazing if you could somehow add '16 Bowman Chrome (pick any one that has sufficient data) to that grouping. Picked up a NNO AND an Update SP (pointing) for a total of $80 shipped. |

They'll both be dynamic in their own right and what I love most about that is that they're both good buddies. This will be HOPEFULLY be a great debate for years!

much like Ronny and Juanny in 2018, there is no reason not to have collected both in 2019

Steal. It is my humble opinion that the SP “pointing” is the single-best buy in Vlad world. It’s his equivalent of the Soto dugout SP or Acuna gazing by the batting cage. There has been some promising upward movement—not too long ago, it could be had for $40 or less—but it still seems rather undervalued. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

This. No need to bash one to make the other better. Normally it's because of the other that one increases in value over the years. Rising tide floats all boats. Very evident in the MJ/Lebron/Kobe price seesaw.

The million dollar question. (Well, maybe more like the $2500 question.) Outside of a 1st Bowman Chrome auto, a flagship auto (of which there are very few examples in existence) seems pretty hard to beat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I agree and I’m not bashing Tatis. As I said before he is very fun to watch and I’m very happy he’s part of the baseball elite. The game needs more players like him.

I second this. No need for it, for the reasons you explained. And besides prodding other people’s insecurities with fat-shaming that’s as mentally unhealthy as the extra weight is physically, it hardly even applies. The dude took responsibility for his weight gain, worked extremely hard, and is now benefiting from all the hard work. If he had grown up in the US, his natural strength and athleticism probably would’ve allowed him to be a high-level linebacker. Instead, he’s the best hitter of baseballs on the planet, and people still want to call him “fatty” because...during the early months of the pandemic he indulged in too much fried food and beer? https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/26/s...ight-loss.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
