Yes he's had a bad 31 games this year but he had a very good season last year.

Here's a comparison between last year and his MVP season

2019 - .282/.382/.521 31 HR 77 RBI 108 RUNS
2016 - .292/.385/.554 39 HR 102 RBI 121 RUNS

Either way whatever team he goes to I'll always be rooting for him.

He's still my main PC guy so if anyone has any rare KB's let me know.

It’s amazing how this guy isn’t being talked about more. Ditto Buster Posey (who I actually thought was on the verge of retiring).

Posey's rookies have risen alot in price from a month ago. I started dabbling in them. There's not much available

Agreed. He had one bad year and it was a short season. He's only 29, has pedigree as a former top prospect, won an MVP in his second season, helped break the WS drought for the Cubs. He's raking again too, showing that the COVID season was basically a little slump.

I think the two things he's got going against him right now is that this contract year adds a lot of uncertainty to his future. He may get traded at the deadline and then who knows what happens after that. The other thing is that it's really, really hard to get into the HOF as a 3rd baseman. He's got to put in like 5-7 more good seasons, which is possible, but obviously we don't know when he will start to regress.

Great to see him playing well, when he is healthy he is one of the best for sure.

After Ozuna’s little domestic squabble I wonder what it would take for Atlanta to rent Bryant for the rest of the season? Unfortunately the Yankees and Phils could use his services too since he can play LF and 3B.

As long as the Cubs are in contention Bryant won’t be going anywhere but Wrigley field.

2018 wasn’t fantastic either, but he was carrying that shoulder injury.
Love seeing him back on form. Wish it was sooner so they could get a deal done. Guess he’ll walk at the end of the season.

Pretty much. Not sure if it'll be enough for the Cubs to try to pay him and I don't know if Bryant has any interest in coming back anyway.

It'll be interesting to see what he gets on the open market now. I still think he'll be regretting not taking that $200 mil extension a few years ago.

He’s not going to resign with Chicago after they blatantly manipulated his service time. And I doubt he’ll regret signing that $200 million extension, mostly because the details have never been released, and Bryant knew he’d make at least $50M in arbitration over the next 3 years without signing it. I’d bet the Cubs wanted to buy out his first 3 free agency years through age 33 with team options for 35-36-37-etc that could’ve maxed out at $200M, but I’d bet the guarantee was only for about $100M (last 3 years of arbitration + 3 guaranteed FA years + buyouts for non-guaranteed years). It’s all a guessing game though, the fact neither side continued to negotiate tells me the Cubs were lowballing with the deal I described but portrayed it as a mega deal.

Bryant will get at least a 5 year deal worth $125 I’d guess, but he’ll ask for 8 years worth $250M. Even a 5 year deal worth $125M + $50M arbitration would probably still trump the Cubs real offer.

Well you're right, it's all a guessing game, but we can agree that the chances of him coming back are very low. His stock has dropped over the past three years.

Right. People can say that’s business, but he’s still going to take it personally. Once they didn’t get it done last time it was never going to happen. Will be a shame seeing him in another jersey.

He had a slump for 2020, and 2018 he still had a 121 OPS+, which was is worst ‘full’ year. For his career he’s averaging the following per 150 games...
101R / 86RBI / 29HR / .283AVG / .384OBP / .514SLG / 137 OPS+

If he continues to rake this year his stock will not have gone down. Someone will back a dump truck of money for at least 5 years as he can play 3B, LF, 1B with at least average defense, solid base running metrics, and is above average in both the hit & power tools. He will be the #3/#4 hitter on almost any team immediately.

By stock drop, I mean he isn't getting paid $30 million plus a year. That's what a guy coming off of an MVP season gets paid.

$34.1 million for Lindor after an average 2020 and an all star level, not mvp, 2019.

And if he keeps playing like he has so far in 2021 he’s headed for a top 5 MVP finish. I’d say $25M/year for 5 years is the floor for Bryant’s next contract, if he keeps raking it’s easy to surmise $$$ and years will be added onto that floor. Who’s playing 1B or 3B for the NYY? Heck, Bryant in the OF could allow Judge or Stanton to take over 1B. Bryant is going to get paid. If Donaldson can get $92M guaranteed over 4 years at age 34, Bryant will crush that as he’s 4 years younger.

There was a lot of talk in the offseason (when Bryant's market/perceived value was quite lower than it is now) that the Braves would pursue him, especially bc it was still up in the air on Ozuna and everyone was remembering Donaldson ditching
