THis. I like Madrigal only for the reason I am a White Sox fan and collect but I don't see much excitement from this years crop of rookies.

Dylan Carlson and Madrigal are the only ones that come to mind out of Series 1 that looks like they totally belong.

I’m a big believer in Kelenic, but I hope he continues to struggle so I can buy at bottom prices.

Adell has all the tools to be a star.

I told everyone Series 2 was going to be dog poop, and look, it is.

Maybe some decent players, but nobody worth paying $2k a case for like it was earlier. Prices will continue to drop.

As for Update, Franco isn't going to be in it. I have doubts Franco sees the majors this year, we shall see though.

Just because its new, exciting and full of a whole new set of RCs...doesn't make it the best decision (when investing). IMO...the right move is usually to continue investing in other young studs from previous releases, stars, HOF'ers, etc. Players you already know and trust a little more.

I think Franco gets called up. As good as the Rays are playing, they desperately need him in the lineup.

The beauty for the “distributors” is that they’ll discount the current prices massively and still make huge profits.
I hope they stashed all the cash they’ve brought in the last couple years cause there’s plenty of reason to think the ridiculous markups and demand will subside the rest of the year- at least until wanderboy hits early next year. If he tears it up immediately it’s full steam ahead. If he’s not AS level+ as a rookie we repeat this years cycle.
Things returning more to normal it seems.

I disagree. They are 4th in baseball in win percentage, and there are only 2 teams with more runs scored than them right now.

They don't need him up right now. Them trading Adames though signaled to me they are looking at bringing him later, but it's not a guarantee.

That said, he's definitely a RC in 2022 at this point.

I wish I'd done the same thing. I bought two lots on ebay of Carlson and Garcia shortly after release. Carlson's cards are half their price and Garcia's a fraction of their price. I was pretty keen on both but Garcia didn't even make the starting roster and has yet to be recalled and Carlson has been merely solid. I still think Carlson still has a chance to really break out and be 'the' player of Series 1.

Also, if I were to buy anymore flagship cards this year for speculation purposes it would not be base. This year's print run for Series 1 was said to be double last year's Series 1 and the print run of 2020 series 1 was larger than 2019 and so on. I think 2021 is the year that flagship base became 'junk waxish'. Partly through the lack of any phenoms but surely also due to an over abundance of supply and dilution.

From now on it will be strictly numbered parallels for 'investment' purposes.

P.S. I love flagship and always will but it's not quite what it was in 2018.

Which absolutely sucks. He would've been fantastic for Update this year( damn Rays).

He will drive Series 1 next year( I'd be shocked if they didn't call him up this year. That would be dumb) but his rookies would've been much more apetising had they been in Update.

People are going to hate it, but this is a possibility still. Rays are in a great spot with him right now and can let him continue hitting in AAA all year.

Maybe it’s because Ive enjoyed ripping so much Bowman but I’m not all that interested in Series 2, even at retail price. I think I’ll invest in Chrome if I can get some at retail.
