Whats the deal with multiple cards of Jerry Manuel and Sparky Anderson?? Did topps have only a limited number of retired stars that artists could choose from or are some of these artists purposely trying to engineer the lowest PR's?

Jerry Manuel thing has been covered to death in here. His son is a big time fashion designer / friend of several artists.

Sparky as a player was a strange pull, Sparky as a Mgr. certainly has all the cred in the world -- but not a baseball card many people are clamoring for.

But beyond those too, yeah there is limitations to what retired players Topps has access too, and it changes throughout the year based on deals.

However: I seriously doubt those limitations resulted in either Sparky card.

what i find funny too is how sometimes the Foil versions go for way more than the APs for some players, yet are numbered to 70 compared to 51 for the APs

Hopefully the other artists are swapping out their planned Sparky Anderson cards.

Love it! The Gummy cards really pop in the black 35 point ultra pros.....if you can find some that aren't ridiculously expensive.

Topps Project 70 has been a major let down, with the exception of a few cards here and there.

the player selection has been very inconsistent overall and it hasn't helped.

Your luck isn't unusually bad for purchasing 10 cards, especially if some had print runs over 3000. But 10 Fucci Sparky Andersons without a foil? THAT would be bad luck.

But I generally wouldn't want a foil of a card I didn't like the base version of, so I've only received foils of cards I liked.

There was a fair amount of skepticism when Lindor was revealed as his 6th card. He rightful defended his choice by saying he (or any artist) does not need to defend their choices.

If the average PR is 2k, on average foils come with about 3.5% of cards.

Or about one every 28 cards, based on average PRs.

If you buy a bunch of Fucci Sparky anderson, will be more like 1/12 cards.

If you bought a bunch of Pardee Trout, they fall more like 1/333 cards.
