Cards increased 2-4x times+ in less than a year. Sellers saw comps and started to list them way high. To the point i cant even buy them.

One day an honest friend from the hobby told me everything. That "LY" collector reached him offering some cards and saw all the low serial numbers and 1/1s.

At the end i stopped collecting that player. Sold and traded everything. Took a huge profit and moved on.
In less than a year cards tanked. A 1/1 printing plate that used to sell for $90-150 now sell for less that $15
LY is pissed, still think im collecting him and is trying so bad to sell them

Advice: Pay the 75 or dissapear. If you keep insisting, he will get happy to keep rubbing you the card to the point he might start buying some 1/1s
I’m just curious about the player.

Is there a link to this card? I only see a $195 one. I'm just sadistic enough to buy a $75 card and cut it in half.

FYI my hassle level is roughly $50 (unless I’m doing a friend a favor), so this is coming from a place of understanding

This, I'm personally in this boat. I know you think it's a $10 card or whatev, but I would never go below, say, $40. Anything less isn't worth my time, I'd rather just hold it.

I think that's it. Seller listed it today.

$75 for a card you want really bad? Why don't you just buy it?

It's never a seller's job to make sure you get the best deal. Plus you've probably overplayed your hand as to how bad you want it. I have plenty of cards that I don't care if I sell or not - but if I do it will be at my price. That's just life.

Default How do you convince someone to sell you something they've lost money on?

how do we know this guy didn't pack-pull it (and therefore no loss other than the cost of grading)?

I can't speak for the budget of others, but to me $75 is cheap. I opened this thread thinking it was a $400+ card (or at least that the card in question was listed for at least that much.)

I offered $80 in solidarity with the seller and he countered at $179 -- 4 competing offers BTW

It went up for sale on eBay the same day this thread was started?

I don’t know the answer to this question. I have had trouble trying to buy a 1/1 of a player with negative career WAR. But that is with a seller who repeatedly tries to auction it and no matter what anyone bids, then shills it higher. Then 3-6 months later he repeats the process.

It does seem pretty obvious that this thread is not the way to do it.

The answer is relatively easy.

Either pay his asking price or don't. There are people out there that don't want to take any kind of loss on anything.

You're not going to change his mind.

Yes! Please pm me for address. Any funds received will go toward buying this card. It will become my favorite coaster.

Yeah I figure the $75 ship has long sailed. That card probably isn't leaving the seller's hand for less than $175 now.

No kidding. I think this thread had the reverse intended effects. That seller is a happy camper right now, and in an even stronger position than he was before. Oops

Plot twist, the OP is the seller and has used the BO mob to make the price rise!

Yeah, you win some you lose some. Clearly I underestimated the jamokes of BO which was my mistake.

If someone is miserable enough and has enough spite just to jack up a price - or even purchase the card outright - knock yourself out. I'll be in line to laugh at you.

The only question is... will it work a second time?

In reality it's not even over $75...

It's over whatever he was willing to pay and $75

So probably a thread over like $25

But........will you still be laughing in 3 years, or making another thread about the same card that you still don't own?

I suggest to bring in a professional negotiator and personal attorney, never get involved personally. Negotiators have done this before and know what they are doing on deals like this, they will do tens of hours or research beforehand and work to make a deal that benefits both you and the seller. You may be looking at low five figures in cost but it's totally worth it to save $75. Also I suggest to start a few more threads and waste everyone's time some more because $75 is totally a life changing amount of money that you can't afford to spend on whim.
