Default The Junk Slab Era is in full swing

I purchased a graded card the other day, and when it arrived in the mail, it was sandwiched between two other slabbed cards. The seller used two junk slabs to protect the one I purchased. I’ve had sellers pack junk wax era cards in purchases before, that happens a lot actually, but I’ve never seen throw-in slabs before. I think this will become more common. The two junk slabs were immediately tossed in the trash after this picture was taken, but at least they helped protect the one card I actually wanted!

Junk *slab era

Theres def some junk slabs out there but most of the ones Ive seen are these BCCGish ones.

All of those repackaged products that come with one slab and a bunch of random cards/trash packs usually have Sage or Hit slabbed junk.

Thats pretty wild though! Lol

Thought this thread was going to be about all the non PSA/BGS/SGC companies/Slabs popping up in droves because people are too impatient to wait.

I mean… it could be. A lot of those will be free pack-ins for other cards in 10-15 years from now.

It’d be 3-minute episodes.

We’re collectors ever able to submit to BCCG? I always thought they were repacks for Fairfield, Excell and the like

The junk slab era started in 1991.

Lmao at those slabs. Not sure where the seller got them but I'd do the same if acquired in a lot or something. Actually just taking up space.

To the original poster, thank you for throwing them in the trash and not allowing them to go into mystery packs. We definitely have an issue and it is exponentially getting worse. I see the importance of grading, but I don't like the speculative nature of it. Grading companies will soon be pushing out 10 million slabs a year, this will become very common in the future.

I remember flipping through bargain boxes at shows of $2, $3, $5... etc. slabs way back, thinking, why the hell would anyone grade this garbage in the first place? (Though, honestly, many graders are thinking the exact same thing right now, as they dig through millions of commons in the current backlog...)

Or Fairfield sent them a box of junk wax and worked a deal Out with them to grade the whole box for these very boxes that have been around forever. Even if someone did though not sure why people would care who /what people collect.

Sorry I guess they call themselves mj holdings company these days

3-5 years from now with the idiots sending in every card you see to be graded you will go to shows and see $1 bins full of slabbed cards from 2020-2021 cards as people find out no one wants a PSA 9 of some guy who was a UDFA and cut at the end of TC.
