Default Topps, Using The Same Image

Different years, different products and same image. There isn't a ton of Mcgriff autos out there to be had. I wish they would have switch up the image. They still sweet cards but would be even better if they switched them up a bit.

I agree. They should find him at the old folks home and get a new picture of him in his night gown.

They are pretty bad about this. It's really bad with the rookies.

They probably thought nobody would ever want more than one McGriff auto to notice the photos.

All Crime Dogs avoid the camera, comes with the territory.

Cheaper to buy the rights to less images and reuse as needed.

Topps once used the same photo for Mike Trout’s variation photos back to back years..

I read somewhere that Topps hired a new employee to pick out the variation photos for the 2018 Flagship set. That person didn’t realize it was the same photo used in the previous year.. lol.

Yeah they’ve apparently only got four pictures of Dale Murphy they’ve been putting on cards since 2004.

There are many things that drive me crazy. Probably should rank them someday. The reusing pictures is definitely high up there.

It speaks to the integrity of the value of cards. Collectors give them value, and they only have value so long as people believe they are collectible works of art. Every stupid sloppy error, every reused photo, every silly gimmick, cheapens the hobby. It’s really truly too bad no company ever put the integrity of the art above cost and corner cutting.

This happened a lot in the 1969 Topps set.

They do that with Rickey too, drives me nuts. He played for 25 years, surely there are enough images out there to mix it up

And to think if he would’ve hung on for just part of one more year and hit 7 HRs he’d be a no doubt HOFer.

Yeah, it sucks he didn't get one last run. I would have love to seen him get the 500 mark. I was also wanting to see Chipper get there. He finished with 468. He's all ready HOF but as Braves fan I was hoping to see him reach that milestone.
