It is possible that they reached out to him, but his price was too high. They can't just take his stuff and use it after all.

More likely though is that the pr firm they hired for the rebrand wanted to bill more for their own crap.

You might be right, but someone with a brain should swallow their pride and negotiate with that guy. Every single thing he did was better, and by a significant amount.

Whatever it would cost to buy him out would be made up for in merchandise sales within 48 hours.

So give those of us that actually know the heartbeat a chance to adjust to this. This pacemaker will take some getting used to.

If it helps, they probably won't win a WS no matter what the team name is.

As a fan that didnt want to see the name change. I can appreciate the new name and the ties to the city and everything that goes with it. I am glad that this phase is finished and we can move on.

I have to say, I've been waiting for this day for a long time. It's very entertaining. In 2021 everyone has opinions about what is offensive, and what isn't offensive, and it's amazing the exact moral certainty that everyone seems to have on the topics.

I admit I haven't read every post on here, but what I haven't seen here (or elsewhere) is any single person asking what Indians - or Native Americans if you will - actually think of this change. They give their moral certainty from their own bubble without trying on someone else's shoes, or even wondering if there is a viable and reasonable alternative view point.

I suppose this is the part where I should admit that I'm a direct descendent of this guy:

Definition of a Guardian:

1.) a defender, protector, or keeper.

2.) a person who looks after and is legally responsible for someone who is unable to manage their own affairs, especially an incompetent or disabled person or a child whose parents have died.

3.) the superior of a Franciscan convent.

Should Indians fans....err Guardian fans be worried about triggering decedents of the Franciscan Convent???

Mainly because this thread hasn't really been about whether "Indians" is offensive. It's been about whether or not people like the new name.
