Soto platinum was pulled and sold super cheap like 2 years ago. I don't remember the price (maybe 3-4k) but I remember it was purchased instantly on ebay and there were questions if the seller would ship, and he did.

No doubt about it. Even the hobby boxes are marked up, has been type products(14+15 bowman chrome, threads bk). 2018 Gallery I'd say as well

I think you're correct here. They have essentially been the same, in that most of them have been awful.

I think people are being overly dramatic. You could sell the contents on ebay and either break even or make a bit in almost every box shown so far. Why did people think this was just a guaranteed lotto ticket?

I respect your consistent optimism about these and admit that I am holding out a sliver of hope as mine has not arrived yet. But artificially inflating retail products with minimal or no hit potential then stating you did well by the customer because "the box contents are worth $×× on our website" is not a good move.

I didn't hit it big 2 years ago and I accepted that. Had fun opening what I got and had no problem with taking a swing at something big. This isn't about hitting the lotto or having unrealistic expectations. This is less than $100 worth of product being repackaged in to $500 boxes then being called a "win" because their website says the boxes are worth more. They aren't, and the 'cresell them on eBay" angle is meaningless to those precious few of us that don't immediately flip everything we get.

We hoped the increased cost would mean consistently decent boxes with a few big ones. There is no way to see the results that 95% of people have posted and spin them as anything other than our worst case scenario playing out.

Yeah, I sure wouldn't say "awful" on these, but to each his/her own. Given the opportunity, would I have spent $1500 for the contents of my 3 boxes? Doubtful. Do I think I'll be able to break even or come out ahead? Probably, but I'll definitely have to hustle.

End of the day, it's a fun gamble, but I'd have enjoyed it more at about half the price point. A good chunk will be flipped immediately, but I'll break and stash some of what I got, too. For as bad as some are saying they are, they certainly could have been worse!

They're not going to be handing out $1k boxes to everyone. Do I wish I got a box of UFC Prizm, hell yea! Do I think I will, hell no.

I do understand your point. But most of us complaining aren’t saying everyone should get $1k boxes. My biggest point is that if you spend $500, you should at least get a hobby box unless you are getting something like the 2017 optic football mega box. If it was like $200, I would understand some may be all retail. At $500, everything should be centered on a hobby box and supplemented with retail.

Not going to disagree on that. Again, had I know how much these would lean on retail boxes, I would have saved my money and bought a box of Marvel Black Diamond. I am fully prepared to be incredibly disappointed tomorrow when mine comes.
