Just curious what people think about the clearly donruss retro rated rookie Luka. Do you like it from a collecting standpoint?

I feel like it's just a cheap low blow tactic by panini to print more "rookies" of Luka. Feel like that card is going to be used for no reason other than experienced people pulling a fast one on uneducated people thinking they're actually buying a 2018 rookie in the future. But wondering if that's just me being grumpy or if people actually like all the "retro rookies"

I think it looks alright but i agree it's lame on Panini for making a 4th year card of the exact same image. They could have at least used a different image like the one that's on the cover of hobby boxes that wasn't used. And it should say retro rated rooked or something like that.

Nice Luka CSG return today! Pretty pumped about the grades considering CSG is super tough and they're all paper stock.

Agree with your assessment but for whatever reason I still want one.

Those are some great grades. Getting CSG 10’s are difficult, being as that is their Pristine grade vs being Gem Mint. Congrats.

First Luka in months! Not earth shattering or $$$$$ but finally picked up a my house holo psa 10! One of my favorite inserts from 2019.

Guy did his job really well. Figured out the whole unlikely/likely incentives thing to get DeAndre Jordan in the team a few years ago without really costing KD/Kyrie their money

It's a smart move by Nico and the Mavs. Surround yourself with smart people to help you succeed. They need someone like this guy because they don't have a whole lot to work with when it comes to assets. The salary cap, different type of contracts, and list of exceptions for the NBA are complicated.

Thanks! Totally agree on the holo’s. Luka is a long term hold for me, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens with holo v prizms over time. Season can’t come soon enough!

That Phoenix is the bomb and welcome to the club. I th8nk last count members owned around 45-50 of them. Some have sold since. Great additions for sure.

Funny enough I also was bidding on that Phx blue from PWCC , but it got too rich for my blood.

Thanks! Didn’t know members held that many. That’s awesome. It was the one card I had to have. Was looking at some other things and got pretty pumped when it listed. Glad it was during the off season. Lol

Yeah, it ended about what I thought it would. Which was at the very top end of what I wanted to pay. Lol. That’s the way it goes sometimes. I was also bidding on the obsidian gem, until someone broke out the big boy bid on that. Lol

I always thought PSA 10 > BGS 10 , unless it's a black label . Or am I wrong ?

I’m not exactly sure what they’ve sold for months ago, but I’d have to assume they sold for that much or mor. At one point, I remember silver prizms going for what, $8k or more? I think I got a good deal on it. Glad it ended before his first Olympic game. Lol

BGS 10(either form) > PSA 10. Black label 10 just brings price waaay up. Even in case of black label, buy the card, not the grade. I’ve seen some shady corners/centering on black labels. Lol

When I was getting back into cards in 2019, I told my dad which packs I'd buy at the store (Optic, Chronicles) and he'd sometimes buy them when picking up groceries. Just before the pandemic I told him Luka and Trae cards were becoming really valuable so he went through what he bought and pulled what he found (he found a Luka Purple Optic back then as the biggest hit).

Well, today was the first time I was able to visit since then and I went through it all and he missed a ton of Luka rookies. Found about 30 Lukas and 20 Traes altogether from Optic, Chronicles, and Status. Pretty awesome. My dad even kept them in the original packs so it felt like I was ripping open the packs myself. All base, but still awesome to find.
