Westbrook deal is done. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I think it can work.
Westbrook can be that spark when LeBron's on the bench. He doesn't get hurt (very often) as opposed to AD. He can drive to the hoop whereas LeBron no longer has much of a desire to do so as he ages. You now have another triple-double guy which can pickup the slack in all phases of the game. It's either going to be amazing or horrible - no in between. Bench is going to be really shallow, but sign some vets on a minimum and we'll see what happens. Carmelo??????? |

I love this trade for the Wiz. Get an extra pick for tonight, which we can either use or package with #15 to move up, and get Kuzma, KCP, and Montrezl, all three of whom can help us next year (and Kuzma, especially, still has star potential if things align).

Westbrick to the Lakers? Here we go with the Lebrick and Russ drama
![]() The prince with his ego actually thinks he's gona be the one who can coral Russ and his bone-headed, selfish, non-winning ways. Lebrick is gona realize at some point next season that he just f*cked up his chances at adding that fifth chip to his legacy lol |

Seems like a big loss to the wizards. I don’t know how you value Westbrook, but for me, I think he’s a better player than Simmons, and for the wizards to trade him away for assets than even the sixers wouldn’t take, it mind boggling.

I really don't understand how anyone can hate on this deal from the Lakers perspective.
They let go of two overpriced, below average players plus a guy they didn't even play on the playoffs for a borderline All-Star. That's a win.

Really not sure what to make of this. It could work if they can get some 3 point shooting vets to sign min or exception deals
Russell needs to be very selective and take way fewer threes similar to what he did his last year in OKC If nothing else this hopefully eliminates the problem of the Lakers seeming to lack energy for large stretches. Not sure about the Lakers inside anymore. No Mcgee or Dwight or Harrell to take the load off AD for big stretches.

Eh, its worth a shot. Kuzma was a bum in LA. Maybe he’ll get it together away from Lebron.

hahaha - I'm both shocked and not shocked that it actually happened.
opposing defenses are going to pack the paint and dare whatever vet min guys they can scrounge up to shoot the ball. It will at the very least be an interesting case study. I cant wait to watch both them and the Nets not make the Finals! |

Absolutely this... Not sure what they’re doing. They needed 3 point shooters. Maybe they have something in the works we don’t know about. If not, I don’t get it. Their offense was putrid due to spacing. It was actually hard to watch.
LBJ can still post up and get his as he gets older. It’ll save him some tear on the body. He’s not as mobile as he used to be. Neither he nor Russ are prolific 3 point shooters. So how do they play off each other with no space to operate. I don’t think this was the right move for LA. I like the Ingles take though.

I love this reaction... its pretty much how I'm feeling after letting the news sink in. Now, lets pray that health says true (looking at AD's durability mostly). They need to workload manage the crap outta the regular season with Bron & AD but also back to backs for Russ even though that ain't Russ' m.o. Its a tightrope because they cannot afford to flounder outside the top 4 seed again. So... incredibly interested in how they fill out the roster for the reg grind.
- I'm guessing retaining THT is a priority? I don't really know because I haven't watched him enough but they are gonna need some youth. - Caruso would be a nice vet min keep. Morris also & perhaps even Matthews too - Resigning Mclemore for dirt cheap would be my first priority. Him and Russ have a tremendous connection and Russ completely revived his career in Houston... he was amazing at pure catch shoot. Great confidence and doesn't hesitate or need to dribble into a 3 - perfect for Westbrook. Now its where it gets interesting - keeping Drummond and his big body is ideal but the problem is he thinks he is worth more than he actually is. Interesting to see how that unfolds... Gasol is locked in for next year on the cheap but unhappy, old and reluctant to shoot. Not a great fit for the C Russ needs ie. athletic/mobile but I'd like him to stay at the end of the bench for a different look/valuable vet. Perhaps Russ can help with the team chemistry/morale as opposed to its Bron's way or the highway? Westbrook will be good for team culture... People without knowledge close to any source whatsoever are speculating about Melo joining the bench. I'll play... Another HOF old man, sign me up. Melo has evolved nicely into a 20 min bench outside threat, Russ found him in OKC plenty often but he wasn't mentally prepared for that role. I'd be frothing at adding another one my guys... seems unlikely but you never know.Intriguing what other names are going to pop up in the next few weeks... |
