I wonder if we're going to end up with a lot of redemptions for the RPAs this year. And I figure all of the relics will be unworn like football.

My initial guess is 13K. We are at the point where Prizm should be priced above NT just because of the sheer volume of cards.

The thing that would concern me would be the volume of sticker autos, and particularly crappy sticker autos. NT football has two stickers per box! Instead of having a bunch of redemptions for the non-rookies, it'll be cleaning out the sticker dump.

I'm going with the under. Last years NT boxes are $6850 so I can't imagine this years starting out over $6k. From a purely year to year comparison, last years stuff is much higher than this years. I'm guessing 4k just like last year, which is still stupid high.

Why would anyone buy this at 18K a case. Last year was 16K at release and that was crazy. There's so many unknowns, especially with on card autos vs stickers. Also, every 2020-21 release has went down in price since release so why buy the presell?

Well ladies and gentlemen, we are 6 days away from the NT FOTL drop. As I expected, Panini has increased the print run, but by how much is still (somewhat) up for debate. Here is a brief rundown of FOTL RPA parallels by year:

2018-19: #/20 + #/3 = 23 x 50 = 1,150 boxes
2019-20: #/30 + #/3 = 33 x 50 = 1,650 boxes
2020-21: #/24 + #/8 + #/3 = 35 x 50 = 1,750 boxes

This years numbers are assuming they're only doing FOTL parallels for the traditional vertical RPA's. Of course, Panini is doing throwback/crossover versions (to increase production) of the RPA's (2010 and 2011 themed) so if they include FOTL versions of those then the number of boxes this year could be triple the number I stated above (or more).

Dutch auction going from $12,500 to $3,500. With hobby pre-orders not much above the floor (if at all), I don't see these selling out as crazy high prices. But I guess we'll see....

Can't believe I thought when the Select FOTL Floor was $500 there was actually a chance NT FOTL would be $2000 floor or less. Nope it's rake you over the coals time. Even if it hits the floor with tax most people will pay around $3800 a box. Can't imagine it doesn't hit the floor with price drops of $375 every 5 minutes. If the floor was $1500-2,000 this would have gone $3,000 or less.

Panini is crazy. Rather than feed the hysteria by keeping wax affordable (encouraging ripping), they are dead set on killing their golden goose.

These boxes will be in group breaks for 2-3 weeks... Maybe 100 cases will be ripped. This leads to minimal singles in circulation and minimal 'found money' for break participants to use to go back in and buy into breaks.

Ultimately this pricing strategy deflates the excitement. Add in PSA's response to surging demand and we have the perfect storm for cards to go back an after thought by 2022.

Imagine buying any 2021 wax at release this year. You've been SMOKED and now you are leaving the 'hobby.' loss of fresh blood will take us back to 2011 when a few thousand people were struggling to keep trading card collecting alive.

Based on Panini’s IG post today, it looks like LaMelo will have live RPAs in this, so I wonder if that will increase the sale price a little bit.

If his rpa/autos are redemptions, no one in their right mind (unless you're a breaker i guess (?)) should be buying a box at initial prices. Especially if you're trying to hold and sell later for profit

It looked legit to me, there was a bit of a glare at the bottom of the card, so I’m pretty sure it will be live in boxes. If it is, the first one pulled is going to be a MASSIVE card. Not only will it be his first NT RPA, but it will be his first live auto in an NBA uniform.

Yeah, not only will it be his first live auto but it might be one of his only live autos when its all said and done lol. Not sure how many, if at all, of his redemptions Lamelo will fulfill. Panini might have just convinced him to sign only for NT by forking over some more $. Doesn't seem like the kind of kid (especially considering who his dad is) that would sit there and be signing all the thousands of redemptions that are backed up at this point unless Panini really stepped up and offered some serious cash.
