LaMelo didn't come within 10 states of the included jersey patch on a company staple NT card. Cool.

Time for Flawless vertical RPAs to take the crown.

Not actually that uncommon.

Average house around me is 800k. That will be 1500 sq. Small back yard.
Not a great area/city either.

Interests too low for anything but spending/borrowing
Good point, you're foolish not to borrow money right now. But is there that much money really going into baseball cards as there was? Prices are falling off on eBay, sealed wax is going for less today than it was back in February/March. People that hopped into the hobby back last year... are they getting burned out from "investing?" We all want the big hits and big names, but if you're a dude who hopped into sports cards last year during COVID and have dealt with nothing but the big names and higher end stuff, do you get burned out from doing so?

There was a time where you could take out loans against your house and almost double your money. That time has long since passed. It's never a smart idea to take out loans like that to begin with. There's still flippers but like others have said, their stimulus checks can only buy them so many Prizm mega boxes and a bot subscription each month.

About time!

Also, why did ppl flock to NT initially? Was it just because that was the only high-end RPA in town back in the day? We're talking 2009 draft class, right? Blake, Curry, Harden...those were all horizontal RPAs, too!

Price of that card just dropped by $10K to $30K. Have to wonder the kind of offers this guy is getting, I'm sure he's getting nibbles but no where near $30K maybe even $10K

Everyone is selling. Sports card market was always 95/5% sellers/buyers overall and full of sheep. So when prices were going up they were all buying.

There's huge savings of money post covid for a lot of people except the poor ones. So still a lot of money floating around just its not going into cards as much because the "hype" is done.

Hype creates demand. There's no one really that exciting on the forefront in any sport right now for rookies. Football a little bit but QB's just bust.

So basically it's just an officially licensed material that Panini could have bought from Dick's Sporting Goods? LaMelo didn't need to wear it, touch it, or even be in the same room as the jersey. Although if he signed the cards, I guess that means he was in the same room as the piece of material.
I'm not following.... how do the box prices of this go up from last year when they are using bogus jerseys this year? Shouldn't boxes be a bit cheaper to reflect that?

First off, I’m sorry for everyone that bought these with at least the hope that they would, at minimum, be player worn.

Second, Panini should be (I’m sure they aren’t) seriously ashamed at the statement on the back of these RPA’s. They aren’t even RPA’s anymore, they are now RA’s. The patch is worthless for all intents and purposes. It’s a manufactured, non used, untouched, piece of jersey that anyone could buy at the fan shop in any basketball arena.

I honestly never thought Panini would let NT get to this new low, and especially with prices still at levels unheard of just a couple years ago. I think this will have serious effects on their business going forward. And I hope for everyone that purchased Spectra today that it’s not more of the same. I find it sad and I honestly hope that Panini wakes up and realizes that the people that helped get them to this point are now fed up with sub-par products at astronomical prices.

I know I am. And all I can do is hope things get better soon.

The bass vertical RPA's look pretty sharp this year. Glad they went jumbo on the patch windows, despite the fact the memorabilia is not specific to any player/event/game.

Don't know why the surprise (or expect anything different with Spectra) - this is the same verbiage on all rookie jersey cards this season. Only difference I've noticed is Select ones leave out the any specific player part. But all others I've seen use the same.

A shame, absolutely. But not a surprise.

Sad thing is, with a premium product like National Treasures, they should be putting their best out there. They should use game-used jerseys from special games.

Can you imagine how valuable NT RPAs would be if they featured any of the following jerseys:

-debut game
-1st home game
-1st road game
-hit game winning shot
-1st game to score 20 pts
-1st triple double

etc...

I remember having cards like this one growing up where they would even show the actual jersey that was being used on the card. And there's no ambiguous wording. You know David Robinson wore the jersey in an NBA game. Simple as that.

NT is easily one of Panini's worst products. There's so much junk in that preview. Buncha lazy, uninspired designs and sticker autos of hobby luminaries like Boobie Gibson, Fat Lever and Torrey Craig. One note jersey swatches of bums like Danny Green and Stanley Johnson; "Personalized" 1/1 autos where LaMelo scribbles two letters.

No cool inserts; no nice auto sets; fake jersey patches. The entire brand needs a re-design.

Why does Anthony Edwards always sign things to the very left?

Panini isn't ashamed; they couldn't care less. Their laughing their way to another record setting year of generating over a billion dollars in revenue. They only care about their distributors.

Saw a Rookie Logoman Patch on Ebay with a HAT Logoman patch.

Could Panini not afford a couple of retail jerseys so that if you are getting a Logoman its at least from a Jersey or Shorts?

Completely agree. If not for the (garbage) RPAs the rest of this product really is like not even a top 15 product. You are going to see hundreds of boxes that yield $100/200 returns. Well said regularp.

This is actually really sad to see with jordan nwora hat logoman with the panini tagline #whodoyoucollect. They've slandered their own top tier product and turned #whodoyoucollect to #whatareyoucollecting

Everyone complains about this product every year same old thing but you are still addicted to participating in group breaks - hypocrites!!!

Stop getting into group breaks, tell your addicted friends to stop getting into group breaks, then prices will get down to where they should be.

It really is trash. This statement on the back literally invites all the forgers to swap out any patch with a nice looking one. I mean what’s it matter anymore if the patch isn’t player, event, or game worn if someone’s shady a 55 with garbage non-affiliated patch swaps it with a super nice non-affiliated patch. They are essentially promoting criminal behavior.

Super trash move but no surprise. This is what lack of competition and companies with a monopoly tend to develop in to.
