Is it possible to do overnight mail with the registered mail added on?

Wouldn't that be the fastest and safest way?

USPS is slow and sometimes loses FC mail or PWE, but they are rock solid with registered mail. FedEx and UPS are not even a consideration with their terrible track record.

Last time I tried to use registered mail, my local post office told me they didn't have the forms and couldn't do it. Ended up using express.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support, it helps.

In hindsight, of course I would have got on a plane and dropped it off myself. With the borders closed, it's not as easy. As for the registered USPS, I wish I had easy access to it. I can only ship regular, first class, etc USPS from Canada. A courier company drives it over the border as they are considered essential. I have had ZERO packages of nearly 1000 go missing that way.

Still no update from FedEx, waiting on the regional manager to call me. I am hoping that if it was a driver or sorting theft, that the presence of a police report may somehow make it magically appear again. As far as I am aware, it was last scanned by the driver. I will speak to the regional manager about that.

I have had discussions regarding a targeted theft as I do a lot of shipping, not a lot with FedEx or UPS though. But the packages I have had go missing were different addresses and/or pickup locations. 2 of the packages were coming to me and this was the one going out and picked up at a local card shop. I shipped 2 packages that day with FedEx, one was a sale of approx 2k which arrived 2 days after shipment and this one was an overnight that is nowhere to be found, same driver had both in his truck.

We all know I wish I did it different but I cant keep thinking about that, I need to move on and focus on doing everything I can to retrieve it.

I am going to go back and read through this thread to see if anything posted can help me mentally or help me locate something.

Thanks again everyone! I appreciate your eyes and ears out there.

Guaranteed FedEx employee internal theft. Someone there got wind of what was in the package and stole it.

I understand what you mean about the border being closed for covid the last 18 months. I stopped selling anything over $500 until I can start crossing the border again. I have driven to Chicago and Columbus a few times to meet buyers in the past.

My largest sale was to the UK and we flew over for a week to deliver it by hand. It was $9000 sale so taking a little vacation was appropriate.

I just wanna help clarify something.

The declared value/insurance for Canadians isn’t the issue. It’s the receiver in the states, that’s gonna get hit with a hefty duty.
It’s the buyer that would care, not the seller

Can FedEx employees at all levels see how much a package is insured for?

Exactly! And I'm not sure how that would work with an auction house that didn't buy the package. I was concerned about putting a high dollar and them rejecting it because of the duties. I wish I did more research on that before I shipped.

Return goods to sender might be the only way?

I hear these stories too often to be confident in any shipping company right now, for the high $ deliveries - since COVID, it seems like things were turned so much on their heads for businesses, and not all have found their way to stand back up straight.

OP - I hope this has a happy ending for you

I don’t think so because with registered there is no guarantee it will get there in a specific amount of time.

No. No guarantee time table for registered mail. The package/letter is locked with other registered mail separate from other mail. Employees who handle the registered mail are suppose to have taken a course for it. Each time it's handled a log is suppose to be kept for it so every step is known and whom had it last. Obviously only certain people have access to the key. It's slow but the best IMO for expensive and/or important stuff.

I asked that question, they told me the drivers have no knowledge of the value when they scan it. Not sure about other employees.

Still nothing, so frustrating to still have no reasons or answers. Police don't really take these kings of things seriously, that I've learned. The report is in, so if and when they do surface, at least I will have something to go on. Still not giving up.

UPDATE: Cards have been located and returned to me. 4 months later after I had given up I get a random call from a Fedex employee in the US saying they found a box with no shipping label attached on the outside. The only reason she called me was because I had a packing slip inside with my name and number on it. She then shipped it back to me on what was suppose to be an overnight. I then had to pay duties to get it back and it took another 6 days of sweating! She had no idea this was even a lost package in their system, even though I spoke with numerous people in both the US and Canada throughout the 4 months .

Bottom line, I got the cards back and I'm super happy about that. Thanks to all of you who helped spread the word, I really appreciate it.
