MLBPA also knew they could get more from Fanatics instead of a bridge deal with Topps.

nobody cares about Prizm/Select baseball cards, barely anyone really cares about Panini's NT or flawless baseball stuff. Cards sell for literally pennies on the dollar

not to say that the stuff doesnt look bad, the designs are usually pretty nice, but no one cares about unlicensed products. That might be a bit of hyperbole, but when i see breakers just sitting for hours trying to fill, an honestly cheap by all comparisons 2021 Prizm case then yikes

Topps doesnt have the MLBPA. That in itself is a huge hurdle.

When it's the only available products, the flippers and break community will shift to it. "Nobody" cares about it now because there are better options on the market. Take away Topps and Prizm will dominate.

Chrome refractors and Topps flagship rare will increase substantially in value over the next 5 years.

Happened with Topps basketball, it will happen again. If there is a superstar rookie class in 2022 or 2023, those cards will become iconic if it's a deep RC logo class or Bowman Chrome class.
