I do not expect any impact to football card market over next 2 years, really depends more on new investors and collectors moving into the market than who actually produces the cards.

will be curious if Topps Chrome era ends, if this also means the end of the Prizm era as well
if "chrome" cards continue, what will they be called, etc |

Curious to see what this does to the number of releases in the future. I know Panini has a 35 minimum with their current deal. Can only imagine how many we could have...

Their deal called for increases, so the new one will as well.

Based on one distributor that spoke at an industry event there is a gameplan to hit 50 within 5 years

Well I'm already pretty burnt out. Getting closer and closer to losing me if that's the case. But I know I'm just one person.

Couple thoughts:
1. Panini Reward Points and redemptions won't be worth anything once the end is near. 2. Curious to see how great all those growth numbers wind up looking. I'll bet the Mudrick SPAC can't be especially happy. 3. Gotta think A-Rod's SPAC decides to drop interest in buying Panini. 4. Stuff will feel fresh and new, it's very possible that Fanatics poaches production and designers to work on new Fanatics lines. But over time, stuff will start to feel stale among the different product lines just like Panini and Topps have. 5. Would be a lot nicer if we had Fanatics, Panini, and Topps making 15-20 sets a year in the big 3 sports. Monopolies are kosher though in this space #InvisibleHand #FreeMarkets #LateStageCapitalism |

Couple thoughts:
1. Panini Reward Points and redemptions won't be worth anything once the end is near. Be more afraid of Topps doing what they did at end of football 2. Curious to see how great all those growth numbers wind up looking. I'll bet the Mudrick SPAC can't be especially happy. Topps could be acquired which would make the SPAC look great 3. Gotta think A-Rod's SPAC decides to drop interest in buying Panini. That is way old and dropped 4. Stuff will feel fresh and new, it's very possible that Fanatics poaches production and designers to work on new Fanatics lines. But over time, stuff will start to feel stale among the different product lines just like Panini and Topps have. Pretty much 5. Would be a lot nicer if we had Fanatics, Panini, and Topps making 15-20 sets a year in the big 3 sports. Monopolies are kosher though in this space #InvisibleHand #FreeMarkets #LateStageCapitalism We would have 3 making 90 as only way it would be worth the hassle for the leagues

I just hope there’s some way, some how my favorite Panini-era inserts can survive. I’ll take cartoony, spiritual successor Fanatic versions if I must. At 1 new set a week (50 on the year), I’ll probably have several sets of that style to choose from…

Dream Scenario:
Topps did what WWE did in the early 2000s and soaks up the corpses of Topps and Panini (hell, maybe upper deck). They keep them around as *somewhat* competing entities all under the same corporate umbrella. Set rules, guidelines, limits, and budgets on what they can produce. We see Topps, Topps Chrome, Prizm, National Treasures, Exquisite, all competing across 3 brands. /End fantasy

So Panini has all the old Products rebranded under Panini, will fanatics buy them up or develop new brands?

I was trying to think of a new “Poopini” term for fanatics. This is a good front runner lol

I'm curious why the league just wants 1 buyer. I realize 1 buyer will shell out a ton to be the onlyone but I'm sure they could make the same amount if they split it between fanatics, panini, Topps, and upperdeck. Then designs don't get stale, staple brands stay around, competition breeds innovation, and collectors would be happier.
If I'm the league and I see Topps has been making Baseball cards for 70s years why would you want to end that when you can just add to it... looks like you don't care about your fans/base at all

My concern is fanatics is overpriced af. I think they are jumping in cuz they see box prices selling and are gunna increase that even more. So if people think these boxes are expensive, buckle in.

I buy LESS cards the more they produce. The more there is, the less I think about sets or longevity or legacy and the more I just buy the highest end cards of each Niner rookie and call it a day. There IS a saturation point. It does exist. Especially if these prices don't hold. I know I'll get roasted by some, but everything about the last two years screams "bubble" to me. Influencers pumping, Wall Street intervening in markets they don't really know, lots of "new blood" collectors who's long term interest has yet to be determined. Sounds "stable". Things are just violently swinging all over. If you can profit now - awesome, but everyone else should be careful. Hell I could dig up bubble threads where average Joe newby was telling me for sure all prices (ALL) would stay high. Yeah, yeah, Kobe Black Refractor, Honus Wagner, or LeBron Exquisite RPA... but that's different than buying mid-level product at crazy prices. It is cardboard for the most part. If Fanatics increases sets I'll have even less overall interest. Is anyone legit excited by Score or Prestige? Or most of the brands?

Right now cards are at their hottest point since 1990. All you see are companies jumping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck and no one looking out for the hobby as a whole or it's long time companies/collectors. All it's going to take are a few of these hot rookies that the new covid wave of collectors put way too much money into, to fizzle out/get injured or a different item takes over the sneakerheads attention and you will lose half of the flash in the pan collectors. In the meantime we sacrifice companies that have been a staple for 70 years because of it. Noice
