that’s what i thought. they were sitting near a 39.98 sign in store and i thought that sounded cheap. $50 last year right? just like chrome it seems too high based on who’s included, but can’t fault topps as it will all sell out, just in a day or two sometimes instead of an hour or two.

By next year we’ll be used to it and anything with wander will fly off the shelf.

Same in store. There were a handful at my local Walmart today. I picked up two but don't plan on opening them as of now.

I just checked my past orders on Wal-Mart. I bought mine right when they were released in October for $59.98, so they are the same price as last year.

Thought last year was already over 100k if not 300k.
Probably close to a million...who knows.
Too many.

Went to one Walmart and they had 30 on the shelf.
I almost threw up.

And there will be a guy that buys at least ten of them.

Do the gold star sets have a pattern, or is it a pattern among the base sets and you pick the one that isn't part of that pattern? And does it vary from store to store? I was at a few WMs on a day trip yesterday and figured out a possible pattern at one, then bought one of the two that didn't fit the pattern and it was, indeed, a gold star. But at the second there seemed to be a pattern but the numbers were completely different.

What’s this talk about a pattern? What kind of pattern? I would like to pick up a set, but a parallel set would be great. My local WM has a ton

Apparently the pattern is a TOP SECRET.

Go to a WM and find a bunch of sets (should be plenty in stock). Look at the numbers. Find the one that's different. It's not that difficult!

But seriously, from what I saw yesterday it actually varies by store, so there's no single hard-and-fast rule. You just have to figure it out from what's available.

So now your an expert? Cause three posts earlier you seemed to be questioning things as well. Not to mention your 1 gold star set is such a huge sample size.... But ITS NOT THAT DIFFICULT!

*you're*

It's not that difficult...to find the pattern at the store. My earlier question was asking whether others have actually seen a gold star pattern, or if just the same as me with variances between stores.

What number may I ask? I’m at a Walmart with a dozen here, every one has the same UPC and PKG number. Is there a different one I’m looking out for? Can’t seem to tell

If we're talking about the MLB hologram sticker, I bought almost 200 sets last year, and there was no pattern.

Heard the checklist with positions for each player factory set box was SSP.

Seen about 40 total sets today. 2 stores had some on the shelf with no wrap on them. Guessing its just dirtballs returning them or opening them up right on the shelf.

Glad my local WM keeps all the cards behind a register.

Ended up checking the mlb stickers, of the 13 sets at my store, 3 had numbers that were far from the rest. I bought one- was a parallel set.
