Default Card storage for card waiting to be shipped to a grading company

How long can you keep your “to be graded” in penny sleeves and semi rigids?

I haven’t pulled the trigger to send them out to get graded due to all the grading situations and costs so they’ve been sitting upright in a temp controlled environment for about a year. Didn’t want some of the cards, especially the chrome to start sticking to the penny sleeve making Psa’s at lowering my grade easier due to surface smudging from the sleeve.

We are worried about cards sticking to penny sleeves now?

So do BGS sleeves cause surface smudges?

Easy fix; don't lick your cards before putting them in penny sleeves.

I was just wondering because I don’t do card grading a lot and these cards are all prepped and waiting. I don’t want to really handle them again

It shouldn't be an issue. However, if there did happen to be a little moisture when you put a chrome card in the sleeve, you should be able to see evidence of that. So pull those cards out and see if they are sticking or not.

You should just throw them away. By the time PSA opens up for you to grade them, all the cards will have stuck to the sleeve and when you try to take them out, it will be almost as if they are glued to them. You should probably take them all out now and put a rubber band around them to keep them from moving.

Is this really where we are at now?

Sleeves sometimes have moisture in them. You ever see the Ultra pro sleeve package? They have a hole or two and im sure thats how it gets in.

I have had multiple cards stored in penny sleeves and semi rigids for about 25 to 30 years and they graded a PSA 9. Many of the post 1992 cards had foil on them and nothing happened. My guess is I would try to keep it under 50 years stored
