Default Favorite Card As A Kid

This one is mine. I recently picked up a PSA 9. I had a copy as a kid that I purchased for $15 in the early 90’s. I traded it and few 93 Award Winner Ultra inserts for random baseball packs, Griffey 94 Finest and a 91 Frank Thomas Stadium Club in 1998.

I always wondered what the black shadowing was from. Only card I have ever seen this way.

As a 8-9 year old, I really liked the 93/94 Skybox Thunder and Lightning Shaq/Penny, of the cards I actually had. And really, really wanted the 93/94 Stadium Club Beam Team MJ.

Piqued my interest in learning the ism and prophetic teachings of Iceberg Slim.

Somethin' like a cross between Teddy Aguhob and Kaboom Mystery Packs. I got that Givenchy denim flow.

As a kid there was one card I wanted and could never get. I bought a lot of 30 plus Shaq rookie year cards last year. One of them was this that I got back from a PSA submission. In my youth this was the card to get.

Wanted this card as a kid so I picked this up like 20+ years ago. Kept it in a binder forever and sent it in last year for grading and it recently came back.

Fantasticness. I love that card and set, have the mj myself.
I was about to say that grading wasn't even on my mind in 1998, but I still haven't graded a single card. What's the BGS serial number on that?

This is the first one I thought of (even though I had already been collecting for multiple years) as I was finally appreciating more College Basketball as a 10 year old

Shaquille was it. He was the biggest thing on the planet.

And people don't realize, if you didn't live it, how big a deal Stadium Club was at the time. It wasn't just another brand.

And before there were 10,000 inserts of every player you had to chase down those that existed... and Beam Team was it (along with the Magic's All Rookie Team)

I'm sure there are others but this one immediately came to mind

From day one it was this card. I was an Isiah Thomas/Pistons fan before I knew basketball cards were i thing. This (not this copy) was one of the first basketball cards I ever owned.

Love the thread jbmm161

To be honest had a ton. It has to be a Hill though because he was the first guy I amassed 50+ cards of and I just stewed over my folder, over and over again rearranging, marveling and whatnot. I'll go with this one... the maroon foil was just wild, gold foil, slight embossing. Sensational.

Never had much money as a kid, my absolute favorite I dont have a picture of but it was the 1992/93 Ultra Slam Dunk Michael Jordan #216.... HANDS DOWN still a favorite. I have most of Jordan's inserts and some are very expensive but this is Still my absolute favorite.

Growing up in the Bay Area and being a Warriors fan, I always loved this card for some reason. The card was never worth much, but seeing RUN-TMC on one card always put a smile on my face. When I finally saw a “PSA Fine Nine” pop on eBay, I knew I had to get it:

1992-93 Fleer Larry Johnson. First card I chased in $0.50 packs of 1992-93 Fleer series one. Made that card the avatar for my IG page.

This was up there for me as 1989 was the first year the craze started! I remembered ripping open these packs and the thrill of landing an mj base and sticker.

Man, that's an absolute beaut of a card. This and the inaugural series of Skybox cops plenty flak but I think they win time!

I remember finding the rack packs of 92-93 Fleer at a Woolworths, and trying to find the LJ cards to finish my set instead of a Team Leader….oops.

All Shaq rookies were basically on a pedestal, but I always loved this one in particular.
