Harper who actually has something of a rotation (at least a cy young candidate in wheeler) who are only alive cuz of schedule being soft.... laying an egg tonight bad in a must win game

Let's see if media holds him accountable like they have tatis vs all these games against dodgers and giants. Hard to imagine he isn't held accountable if he doesn't play well and they don't pass Braves

Wish I still had all of those BC autos, only have one true gem left.

But used those funds on a lot of other Tatis cards. I’m going to try and scan the collection over the off-season and will post at some point.

I was out at $250ish. It was tempting since it was still in that top loader from Topps.

Tatis should've been shut down the second they were eliminated from contention. The End. See you in 2022.

Alright. You deserve it. I really wanted that one lol. Which is why it jumped from $250 to $378. I almost went $500 just to make sure. Well played sir. Well played.

I was at the game man, that ball was absolutely annihilated. I jumped up as soon as it left the bat, never mind being surrounded by a sea of Dodger blue haha.

467 feet, 116.6 MPH, out of the stadium. This was the biggest shot I’ve ever witnessed in person.

Looked like it. It reminded me of when I was a kid watching Mark McGwire hit at Busch Stadium watching him hit bombs like that.

I look at his build and I try and figure out how he could hit the ball that far.

There is much more that goes into hitting a ball than body type. Bat speed, acceleration, etc. Plus the pitchers supply the power as well. That's why I don't understand why guys like Javy Baez swing so long and hard. It's much better to keep it precise and get your hands through the zone quickly. Players always say they hit homers when they're not trying to. Just make solid contact and the ball will travel.

Very true. Hitting is a complex skill that involves a lot of things going right with a higher probability of failure than success. It’s definitely way more than body type. However, normally the guys that hit balls nearly 500 feet have a bit more mass. Nando does have a really strong lower body and insane coordination (Griffeyesque in this regard). I’m pretty sure he can generate power as well as anyone in the game. He opens his hips rapidly which allows his hands to fly with superhuman momentum to the baseball (and yes, also pull off pitches badly at times).

Admittedly, I wouldn’t mind seeing him cut down his swing when he’s behind in the count more often, but I have no issue with him trying to murder baseballs in favorable counts. I think as his career progresses, he will probably adapt his approach a bit and his average will get a positive bump.

You need both solid contact/power to consistently hit bombs. It’s finding that happy medium. The reason why guys hit 40-50 home runs is usually because they squared up a bunch of baseballs, but also because they had enough power behind even a decent amount of balls they didn’t catch right on the sweet spot to carry out.

Power is first generated from the ass/legs and that boy thicc. His upper body coordination and hand speed carry that force/energy and then distributes it.

It's all about the booty though. Same thing with knockout power for boxers.
