Nor surprised nobody in here has mentioned Scottie Barnes (because he's not scoring 20ppg) but he has quietly been one of the best rookies in the preseason (Davion Mitchell has been slightly more impressive imo) AND looks all the part of a potentially elite 2-way point forward.

Its the first time these guys have ever played on the court together in a real game. Of course its going to be choppy.

People need to be reminded of this every year- preseason doesnt matter. And for a team like the Lakers- the first 25% of the season in terms of results doesn't matter either.

Not saying that the Lakers will have the same success, but the entire sports world freaked out when Miami's Big 3 started out 9-8. They ended up ok.

Preseason does not matter, preseason has never mattered, and preseason will never matter. But, this is called the overreaction thread, so I guess that is the point here. Does anyone remember when the 2010-11 Heat started the REGULAR season 8-9? Those were fun times. Then they ended up going to 4 straight finals and won 2 titles. Lakers will be ready for the postseason, unless they have a bunch of injuries, which is definitely a possibility.

EDIT - whoops just read the post above mine that already called out that Heat team’s record, haha. Now I’m second guessing myself…was it 8-9 or 9-8? I thought they were just under .500 which is why it was such a big deal, but I could be misremembering it.

Team ball does tho. That game last night reminded me of the first season Heat with the big 3. They just didn't look like they had roles...just guys playing basketball. Spacing was odd. Plenty of time to figure it out tho.

Time will tell.

Russ is at his best when he's aggressive and firing at all cylinders. I don't see him doing that when Lebron and AD is on the floor. He's joining an accomplished squad unlike his previous stints, so he needs a more conservative approach.

Lebron's natural floor general instinct was on display last night, even Rondo was in playoff form running the offense. I hope Russ finds a perfect balance along the way. He's the biggest reason why I'm excited for Lakers basketball again.

It's obvious that his scoring ability is gone and he will score 0 points this season.

I just put the game on and I thought there was something wrong with my TV. Is Dallas really up 91-41 through 3 quarters??

big difference to me is Lebron wasn't heading into his 19th season... he's no longer in his physical prime, he's no longer a very feared defender / potential DPOY... and their fit was a bit better. This Lakers team is put together like the last decade didn't happen... The fact is now most teams are built to put up tons of points from the perimeter and do it in a hurry. There will be nights where Lakers will get shot out of the game when better-shooting teams get hot.

I saw Luka shoot 28%. Obviously this Mavericks team cant work with him shooting like that and it’ll be a failure. Sell your Luka and start buying whichever soon to be G leaguer is lighting up the 4th quarter

Luka shot like crap one of his worst shooting games i've seen. I just couldn't believe the score difference. I think it was a preseason record.

Is there a particular reason you're being so annoying in this thread lately? Ok, Luka shot poorly. We get it. It's like you're mocking someone's take but I don't even know who or when, meanwhile there are several of these dumb posts from you.
It's the preseason. Same reason a lot of teams aren't playing their starters - it doesn't matter. Maybe that's the point you're trying to make but it's just coming off like you're a tool.

I would definitely be surprised. I’ve been trying to sell off leftover low end stuff for the last couple months and it’s a huge pain. In most cases the effort versus net revenue isn’t even worth my time

Let me underreact to Nesmith's 23 point performance against the Magic. Sat out fourth quarter so the bench players could battle it out for spots. Showing moves that will take him far beyond 3 and D territory this year. Each game getting measurably better.... shades of Ray Allen?
